I know it's close and in the real world, a player would most likely have reached out for it. Hopefully, we'll see that improve in the future.
The poke check attempt was made. So, while they're in that animation, they won't attempt to intercept.
With Morrisey, it's still an issue of reaction time. Slowed down, it looks easy to intercept. There isn't much time to react to it when they're this close. Not to mention, it could easily be deflected into the net for an own goal.
In no way am I saying interceptions are perfect. I'm just giving you some detail on why they aren't working. Obviously, we'd all love to see these improve.
