Passing

What constitutes a registered pass in this game. The objective  in nhl 25 week 2. Make passes with any nhl draft player. I used my 4th line forwards  and 3rd line D making up 5 draft players. I have passed the puck between them a total of 35 times. The objective registered 6. A PASS. The exchange of a said object between individuals or group. Obviously this game doesn't understand the concept, or it has different parameters they use to acknowledge it. And if so. Be more descriptive in your wording. I was ticked the other day when I wasn't credited the 4000xp for completing moments. Now I have to endure this debacle of a pass definition. Gotta love this game!!!!!! Not.

I have also noticed that some passes register for objectives and some don't, and I would also like to know the logic behind it. Can you explain it? I'm assuming that there is some kind of an explanation for it, similarly to how dekes only register if you are close enough to a player from the opposing team or something like that.

Without an explanation from EA_Aljo, I can only say that it seems to me like passes are more likely to register for objectives in the attacking zone than in the neutral zone or defensive zone. And if you shoot a one-timer, the pass that led to the one timer seems to always register. But I don't have a proper explanation for it so I hope EA_Aljo can explain it to us.

I usually complete "make passes" objectives without really thinking about them, so it doesn't usually bother me too much that some passes don't register even though I have noticed it. But I can see it being annoying if you are trying to complete such an objective quickly, and also in a situation like this where you need to make the passes with specific players and not just with any player. Even though I said it doesn't usually bother me too much, I totally agree with dogheels that it doesn't make sense how some passes don't register for objectives and it would be very nice to get an explanation for it.

  • I think there has to be a player from the opposing team close enough to either the passer, receiver or the path of the puck for it to count.  In the offensive zone that will almost always be the case, which is why they count more often.  If you are playing in Squad Battles you can pass D to D in the offensive zone since the AI will usually be close enough but not in the passing lane.

Yeah. I get your drift regarding being in the offensive zone. You may be right about that. But I'm perplexed at the lucidity that the objective is vague in the meaning of passing. It should not be restricted to a certain part of the ice. Thanks for the feedback. Appreciated

Hey, I'll look into this for you. I know when I played in previous years every pass counted. I could just pass back and forth in my own end and have them complete. It's possible that changed for 25. I'll let you know what I find out.

I looked into this and have found that you need to make forward passes out of your zone. You can't just sit back in your own zone and pass back and forth. Those won't count.

Ok, thanks for the explanation. But isn't the objective a bit too vague then as it just says "make passes"? Shouldn't it be a bit more descriptive as dogheels said if some passes count for the objective but some passes don't count?

I agree it's a bit vague. I'll pass on that feedback. Thank you!
