Imagine nerfing a mechanic as integral as clearing the puck from your own zone to support another mechanic that's as brain dead as the pressure system. It wasn't enough that players clearing the puck could do so how real NHL players can flip a puck on their backhand from the goal line to center ice, but you had to introduce a pressure system that cooked your players' fatigue because you thought it was a good idea to:
A) Nerf clears so that they are mostly useless now. It was fine in past games making sure you cleared correctly to not get a delay of game, but that's all gone out the window now.
B) In pressure and on the PK, the use of players hands, legs, and brains go out the window. Passing drops to nil. Skating happens in quick sand. Opposing players can take the puck away from you by skating by blowing kisses. Passing and even trying to shoot the puck out of the zone are gimped.
C) Are players at the blue line hockey players or Red Sox outfielders? The fact that these players jump grab slapshots should be enough to tell you what the results of the weakest method of clearing the puck will yield you.
D) Congrats on double down of the pressure system by introducing Pressure+!! Nothing says balance like Elite Pressure+ where random shots on net generate even more pressure now. It's not as if as soon as players cross the blue line, just pushing up directs a shot straight to the goalie. Right? Can't be that easy.
E) Imagine, instead of needing to clear the puck on pressure, you have a pass to spring someone out of the zone to skate it a bit, even though they're tired. You cross the blue line and to your surprise, the pressure is still eating your stamina until you get to center ice? The other teams' blue line? A set number of seconds outside your own blue line?
Long story short. The pressure system was a good idea that was implemented terribly. It needs a full rework or just needs to go away. The PP and PK were fine in the game before it was introduced. Teams had to be savvy to keep the puck in and the defenders had to stray away from panic clears over the glass.
