Personal opinion of someone who plays defense at 92 speed.. if youre getting beat, its because you cant, or choose not to read that your team has lost possession early enough and risk staying in the zone too long. Do I agree defense isnt balanced enough when it comes to running 90+ puck control, 90+ def awareness, etc. 100% which is why i take the hit at speed and put it into those attributes. This game rewards shooters who blindly pass and hold up, so im gonna make it my mission, not to necessarily win every game, but to make it as hard as I can for the opposing offense to score. That's my motivation. I don't need goals, I don't even need assists (although I get them anyway), if the offense can't score goals in a game that rewards it, that's not my problem, GAA is. And you know what, my record speaks for itself currently standing at 36-8-1. This isn't a challenge this is a testament that the game rewards teams that don't give up odd man rushes and defensemen who play full out defense. Maybe one day that changes or maybe the community as a whole just keeps doing the same thing expecting different results. But one things for sure, I'm not gonna keep losing games because I am too stubborn to adapt and overcome.
If you are not wiling to risk the unusual, you will have to settle for the ordinary.

Lol dude it's not that deep. EA literally took Elite Edges and Wheels out of the game for stock builds in the past because they both ruined EASHL and EA knew it. For no valid reason to put it them back in lol.

I don't get why everyone needs wheels or their lives are over? The perk, unless orange which I still haven't seen, is useless in getting past a defender. The only time it is useful is for when a teammate loses the puck in a stupid way and my guy is unable to get back. Wheels is good when you are already on a breakaway so you stay on that breakaway. If that breakaway happens, it's either because I messed up and didn't get back in time or my teammate decided to try and blindly chuck it through the crease with 3 guys there after i just pinched to help keep the puck in the zone. That's not my fault, that was my teammate for hucking the puck into the center of the ice. My Two Way Dman has 92 speed and he is not giving up breakaways because the second I see my team possibly losing the puck, I am already getting back. Blue wheels also drains your stamina so fast that one rush, if you make it that far, and you are gassed. In my opinion, wheels, much like truculence, is an overvalued perk people think they need to be relevant. I'm not saying it doesn't have its place, but not every single skater on the ice needs it.

Bingo. There could be a better balance for sure, but you're absolutely correct in that people are making terrible reads on possession changes. Having to battle against Wheels makes those decisions even more timely and consequential.
I personally think both things are true; Wheels needs a bit of a nerf and people need to play better defense. (Also, truculence has no place in this game)

Well said! People clamour for a new game every year, they get it - and then incessantly moan about how things have changed without giving themselves time to adapt.

Yeah I imagine it's hard to balance, because a lot of people are wanting to play two-way or offensive D and then still get back and play traditional defense as well. Doesn't really translate. I just find that if I'm not already getting close to the red line by the time they come out of the zone, they're already blowing past us 3 on 2 by the time we get to our blue line. Just feels weighted a little poorly and it does make it fairly difficult to contribute offensively.

But that's just it... your job is not to contribute offensively for the most part. Your main job is to stop them from putting the puck in your net. If you want to play that game instead and get super offensive, then expect to give up breakaways and that is not the games fault for giving them wheels. That is instead, your fault for not wanting to play defensive.
Its just like in League games when I see a game is tied up with seconds left because the leading team had an odd man rush and they go for the shot only to have it hit off the post. The trailing team then picked up the puck and went back the other way catching the defense off guard and tying up the game. So many people would blame the game saying they got "EA'd" by them hitting the post when the real question should have been why the heck did the forward not just take it to the corner and secure the win?
It's simple, people only think in terms of offense and that's why games are tailored to that. If you want that mindset, then by all means have at it and win games 8-6. But don't blame the game or the perk for every time you are getting beat because you wanted to be "in the play" on offense. That is not your job. Plain and simple.

KidShowtime1867 You have to adapt and overcome Truculence. If Truculence is removed they can also remove Warrior Unstoppable elite edges Wheels.
Xfactors shouldn't be in the game. They should focus on Attributes only. Rework attributes so they work together. And then Bring back Boost packs.

Again, my argument for removing them isn't about winning and losing. My club still wins. My argument (read the initial post again) is that it limits the creativity of the gameplay and builds. EVERYONE is playing the same builds the same XF's. EA took Wheels and EE out of the game because they ruined it in the past. Competitive leagues are already banning them. Gone are regular tip ins, deflections (35% of goals in the NHL), shots through traffic (another 15%), etc. There is no semblance or organic goal scoring feel of real hockey anymore in 6's. It's become a one dimensional game based off of 75% of goals being breakaways, when only 25-30% of goals in the NHL are breakaways/in alone situations. That's it. It's not that complicated. EASHL become nothing like a hockey simulation when you have 6's going. I don't think any XF's should be in competitive 6's at all regardless of how good someone wins. Save the gimmicks and boosts for 3's players, ripping packs bros, and arcade.

EA wants every player to be able to create a build with every available X-Factor, and that comes with its own problems, but it's the lack of balance within the X-Factors is what creates that god-awful boring meta. LG and all the alike leagues have the right idea to ban these. I sort of wished they did awake with X-Factors and just gave us builds to work from and points to distribute to customize. I thought the end of NHL 25 was decent and fair across the board when it came to X-Factors, offense, and defense. 26 throws all that work out the window and now we're back to, "We are monitoring what's going on with X". You literally had all the data / tools in the previous game. It's frustrating and as someone who just plays D, there's no way at all that I'm paying full price for this game. Lol. Gamepass or bust. Maybe by that time they would have gotten back the balance they had in last years' game.

I agree on lot of things on your post about playing D, its more about reading the game/situation and making solid decidions. But the wheels and elite edges, gonna be a top x factor picks for lot of people. Because tis game rewards speed attributes. And limit big/normal builds for some reason. Truculence to is far more too used.
