Can we get one lousy thread where a certain someone doesn't show up telling everyone that everything they say is wrong?
I’ve always jumped into discussions about this game with the genuine intention of helping people understand it better, because understanding is usually the first step to actually getting better.
But I get it now. A lot of people aren’t looking for understanding. They’re looking to be told, “you’re right, the game is broken, and EA is personally out to ruin your enjoyment.”
So I think it’s time for me to step away for good.
There’s just too much frustration here, and too many people who have no interest in adapting or improving, but instead want validation inside an echo chamber until the game is reshaped to perfectly match their own version of what “real hockey” should feel like.
It’s been a nonstop refrain of “I know hockey and this isn’t it,” and all I’ve ever tried to show is that the outcomes people say are impossible *are* achievable. Not through exploits or excuses, but through understanding how the game actually works.
Clearly, that message doesn’t land.
Outside of the occasional DM, it’s obvious most people don’t like what I have to say, and that’s fine. I’ve never posted here expecting agreement, but at a certain point you have to accept the possibility that if nobody wants to hear it, there’s no reason to keep saying it. The clips, the explanations, the effort—it’s all just noise here.
I’ve been around these forums in one form or another for over 20 years, and I think it’s fair to say I’m just out of sync with what the typical gamer wants now.
So I’m out.

This is a video game. It's probably never going to be 100% realistic. We all want exploits fixed and XFs balanced better. In the meantime, there's nothing wrong with sharing advice on how to combat their use. This is still very much a skill based game and there are many out there that want to improve that skill. These forums are meant to be a place where we can all share advice, tips, experiences, etc. We need to be respectful of differing opinions.
Madden and FIFA are pretty close to 100% realistic… why is NHL roughly 50% realistic?
It needs to be closer to realistic, it's like I said, things that are complained about seem to get worse each version such as Truculence getting buffed, and stick checks getting nerfed the exact opposite of what is asked for in the forums.
