Stamina needs to be removed from WOC.

Stamina would matter in WOC if we could change lines, but we cant so take it away completely.  No stamina loss is the answer to making this game fun again in WOC and its pretty evident after playing the Shamrock Slapshot Showdown. Allowing players to not lose stamina also helps to nerf the big/ogre truc builds b/c you can get back up and actually catch them. This game tries to do simulation hockey but uses arcade-like features/animations to get there. The pressure system also seems to have minimal effect here proving that it should be removed from the game as well.

Would like to see line changes at 6v6 games and i have said this before also. Would be the first step to more authentic experience wich i would like to see.

  • I can't say I'm a fan of the idea of removing stamina from WOC.   The mode already puts a very high premium on speed, I'd hate to see how far that goes without endurance.  I think a better solution to dealing with teams that run around abusing truculence is for EA to adjust the game so late hits result in interference penalties as they should.  If you're getting hit while you still have the puck, that's a skill issue.  But the allowance for late hits long after the puck is gone needs to be addressed.

As for the pressure system, I'd like to see it removed.   At least in WOC.  I've never been a fan and I still feel like it doesn't do what it was intended to do.

  • I agree with PlayoffError, I think stamina as a concept isn't what's actually broken (though I feel like the level of drain could be tweaked).  The problem is with the way hitting and truculence works.  Hitting is just too over the top, especially with blue or red truculence.  You can get massive hits that kill stamina even when the hitter doesn't have much momentum or good aim.  And as mentioned above, the window for allowing unpenalized late hits is way too large.  It turns overpowered hits as the way to play defense and it starts to feel like NHL Hitz.

As for the Pressure Meter, this is another example of lack of subtlety for this series.  It was a new marketable feature so it was slapped center stage (big red meter on ice) and has an over-sized impact on gameplay.  Again, arcade-like.  A little subtlety would fix the problem in my mind.  Don't remove the feature, just make the pressure reset at every non-icing faceoff.  Make it a more rare, true reward for sustained attack time.  Give the defending team a chance to counter by getting a goalie cover (like in the real NHL).  Take the big red meter off the ice...give context clues by a crowd that is increasingly cheering or booing to let you know pressure is up.  Put an indicator on the boards if you need to.

Edit: I am aware that you can turn off the pressure meter indicator on the ice (I've had it off since they allowed us the choice).  The main point is big, in-your-face vs more measured implementation.

I love the idea of having line changes at EASHL 6v6 games. Line changes would bring something needed new and fresh.

Why not change a little the way how you restore your stamina back. Instead of standing still and waiting the stamina bar to fill up you really have to get to the bench to be able to gain more stamina. I would be happy to just see that line changing feature to be implemented somehow. I do not mind if you can not create two separate players or change between two different player builds or anything like that.

Line changing would also bring so much more strategic thinking to the game. I mean you have to think how often you change your player and in which situations. For example as a defenseman clearing the puck to the boards from the offensive blue line in some situations would be a meaningful play because after that you have acquired more time for yourself and your teammates to change and gain full stamina again. Or clearing the puck on a penalty kill would become more crucial play especially when the opposing team has full pressure going on.
