Also, the '27 clips are against CPUs. Based on how players are still able to skate backwards in full control of the puck in '27, it doesn't seem like this has changed much outside of a speed penalty.
In addition to that, we were told all year that LTing couldn't be fixed due to the massive underlying work that needed to be done to prevent breaking backskating, but the 'changes' in the video above show that there's only been a subtle adjustment to speed.
How could this not have been fixed in a patch? Were we all being misinformed?

Most anything can fit in a patch, really. The important thing is that it's fixed. The devs needed time to properly address this which meant it needed to wait for 27.
I think the point here is that the jury is still out if this is a fix at all. It is obvious they slowed the speed but that appears to be all.. (not sure how much code that required, that it had to wait until 27 due to all the time it took to figure something out.. but sure) I will say a big issue was the speed, but given good positioning that was not my biggest problem with it.. the other issue was how difficult it is to defend against due to a lack of annimations on the development side, (the part that WOULD take development hours.) If I go to hit someone using it and I bounce off due to an animation not being triggered as nothing was coded for that situation it won't matter a whole lot if he is slowed down because now I have to recover and he's still moving anyway. If i go to poke and he turns his hips at the right time, i get a trip despite poking at an otherwise very reasonable situation. I've heard pokes are improved so I'll not talk too much about issues with poking against puck protect and different things. In defense of the game the hit attempt is timed extremely poorly but this video does not do nearly enough to suggest the mechanic was fixed.. slightly nerfed? Yeah.. this is giving me the whole "Goalies are improved this year" vibe. I also wonder how players move given different skating ratings. These few second clips don't really show what attributes you're working with or difficulty or game speed.. it just looks like the second clip the skater is going slower... is there more to it? Can we get any more info on how they actually fixed it? I mean if it took a whole development year and couldn't be JUST a patch, I would expect they should be able to have a good discussion about what all they did and not just a couple few second clips, right? I have no doubt it will be less effective due to slight speed nerf but I think given the track record of things they've claimed they "fixed" it's more than fair to be pretty skeptical... saying "fixed" seems pretty bold. This REALLY just looks like a speed nerf. If this IS fixed it will be a really big win for the team, and I'll be happy I'm wrong because at the end of the day I DO want a good game.. I'm just not sold. Time will tell.
LT wasn't a simple fix as we all wanted because it still needed to be functional for walking the line as a dman and well using it with not having the puck also. As for goalies it's like I said in another topic. Give up a breakaway? You getting scored on. Give up an up close shot? You getting scored on. Things like short side shots for slightly out, cross creases, and insanely high scoring chances in the slot are so very hard to score now. I actually feel the goalies in that aspect are way too good.
Defense is so very much improved with interceptions being way up. Pokes improved and stick lifts slightly improved. I will say this. Manual saucer passes will become more of a common thing to use.
