Matchmaking in Ranked

Hey guys!

Can someone explain how matchmaking works in Ranked? Yesterday, I lost a game where I had absolutely no chance. My opponent completely outplayed me. I decided to check his stats and found out he was Elite 2, while I'm in Diamond 4.So here's my question: how is that fair? I lose rank because I get matched against someone three divisions above me, while he gets to rank up by beating weaker opponents.

Where are all my Platinum opponents?? 😂
