Banned for name stuck on Joe Nhl

Just got back on the game after receiving a 7 day ban for my name. Wondering how long I have to stay as Joe Nhl before I can actually change my name. However reading others issues I'm assuming it's a...

Yes. This is permanent for NHL 22. In the future, make sure a name is chosen that does not violate the Terms of Service.

I mean... I accept mine because mine was pretty borderline to begin with but that's really stupid that having white as your last name gets you banned. Rough going playing a game where sweaty 9 year olds get pissed and report you for your name when you pump them 9-0

It's definitely unfortunate that some words are used by players in an offensive manner. We hate to see that happen. Especially when it's being used in a legitimate manner. It's too bad we need to be so strict, but there are just too many instances where people are using their player's name to be hateful or just inappropriate.

@EA_Aljo Maybe I'm misinterpreting things here, but it sounds like you're saying that because some people use a word in their player name in an inappropriate manner that all usage of that word are ban-worthy offenses. Is that the case?

  You can only get banned for actually having an offensive or profane name. There has been a very high number of people using innocent words in an offensive manner so we've had to put some very strict limits on the profanity filter. This is why we can't have nice things :/

    @EA_Aljo Got it. While that's understandable, I think there needs to be better feedback from EA when handing out suspensions/bans. Getting a suspension/ban with no feedback as to why or how a name violates the guidelines isn't productive. Especially for people who are legitimately not attempting to offend or troll others. If you have no reasonable way of knowing what the rules are, how are you supposed to follow them?
    
    I only have second-hand experience with the process through teammates, but the whole thing seems arbitrary and not at all helpful. And all attempts at appealing punishment are met with crickets.
