After my rookie season in which I scored a whopping 22 points in 82 games, the LA Kings inexplicably made me captain despite being a 4th kind scrub. To test this theory, I made a new career mode where I purposely didn’t score and took as many penalties as I could for a season and still was named captain despite being the worst possible player ever. This is just one of many problems with career mode. Even in year 3 or 4 everyone still calls you “the rookie”, and the roster turnover is so insane it’s like you’re not even in the NHL, you’re in a wacky alternate universe that traded ovechkin to the penguins. Career mode clearly was created with the thought that ever up would get bored of it by the all star break of their rookie year since after that point it breaks down like an old junkyard car.

  • @packerman15The EA mods have told me that the game is tailored to coddle you and hold your hand so that you become a superstar no matter what. The game isn’t supposed to be challenging, it’s supposed to be easy so you can steamroll over your opponents and become the next generational superstar, even if you wanted to play as a grinder/enforcer. They took out any challenge and replaced it with fancy bugged praise and spotlight even if you’re not good.

it’s unfortunate but that part itself isn’t a bug. It’s how it’s supposed to be. Easy peasy to win. The rookie thing is a bug though but the game being not difficult whatsoever and having everything handed to you on a silver platter isn’t a bug.

That’s ridiculous. Why even make it then if it’s just gonna be like a movie where the plot is pre-determined? What a waste of time

  • @packerman15 Yeah I don’t understand. That’s no fun. It’s such a one dimensional game mode now. You can’t play as a 3rd line checking grinder. Can’t play as an enforcer defenseman. Can’t play any roles suited for the 3rd or 4th lines or 2-3 pairings. Can’t even play backup goalie Cus when I tried, it made me, a 76ovr goalie with a constant below .900sv, the starter over John Gibson. They gave me 70 starts over him. ???? Makes no sense.

Really took the fun out of the game. Hope they actually revamp it through patches and put back the essential features they took out, and properly rework the ones they added

Laziness and trash. I played it a couple times and just gave up. The challenges from the media are all broken, I can't seem to unlock certain skill tree options (puck handling left side seems broken after you unlock the top main one) the "Rookie" is just too much. Season 3 and I'm still being called a rookie and trying to obtain the Calder Memorial Trophy. This is like an Alpha release. Can't believe EA released this broken mess. Seriously, no one thought about what to call the player after 1 season?  Not to mention the zero achievement factor. Make me earn my way to the NHL. Not go from the WHL to the NHL first line then named Captain season 2. I should have been stuck in the minors for a couple years. I'm aware you can't call us by our names after season 1 but someone should have thought of maybe using our number when being referred to.

  • @packerman15 supposedly the game is supposed to be "fun and exciting" because you're a god tier player, no matter how you play. if you want to be an enforcer, or a 3rd/4th line grinder, sucks to be you. cus you're forced to be a generational talent/superstar. thats the way the game is tailored. its made to make you the best without any effort.
so i highly doubt it'll change any time soon. maybe for the next game. doubtful, but maybe
