Can we get something to discourage people who "soft quit" in online 1v1 modes?

It's so annoying when someone decides they don't want to play anymore and just sets their controller down, forcing you to waste your time and allowing them to collect game completion rewards that they really arguably don't deserve.

Could you guys add a timeout or something? Or maybe let the other player kick an idle player if they've been idle for longer than a set time?

  • A loose stick/rubberband/taking the controller with you while you do something else etc. would be enough to combat any timeout; there's no way they'd give someone the ability to boot an opponent but giving players a better report function would help tremendously.

With video evidence to back up claims, it would be nice to see a reputation system similar to Xbox's be implemented so rage quitters of all forms will end up just playing each other.

  • Sure, but it'd be pretty easy to tell when someone's just tweaking the controller so they don't get kicked and can easily be reported. A better, more robust reporting system would be nice, regardless.

Not sure what your Xbox comment is about, though. I play on Xbox, these issues are rampant.

Yup it would be easy enough to tell for reporting purposes, but booting players for inactivity only works when 0 input is registered, thus is easy to get around.

Didn't Microsoft introduce some account black mark system for people who get reported a lot? Iirc, the odds they match up with other bad eggs increases the more they garner heat.

At the end of the day I reckon this is a fairly low priority for the team since the other team isn't technically denying you of a win or manufacturing one for themselves - if they stuck around you'd play the same amount of time anyway (but yes, I completely understand your frustrations).
