Hi.
My friend and I like to play season mode together with locked positions and last year's colors been red and blue.
Now it shows 5 controller with different colors and stupidly second controller is now yellow.
Can those be changed so I can play with blue again.
Btw it's Xbox series x we play
I believe its a bug in the game engine because the exact same thing happens in Fifa 2021. The bad news is that was never fixed and I haven't seen any mention of this getting fixed in NHL either. I really don't understand why you have to lock to a color based on what order your controller is discovered. This would be a non-issue if you were allowed to pick your color manually.

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I play franchise mode the most but it’s happening in play now as well. Just in the selecting teams area before the game.
What happens when the bug occurs? If I have 1 remote connected to my Xbox, I’ll be the blue color and the red color will remain unassigned. When playing locally with another player, I’ll be assigned the green color and my partner will be assigned the yellow color.
What do you expect to see? I should be red and he should be blue

Perhaps this is a problem with my Xbox, but I tried going to accessories in the settings and only saw 2 remotes connected. Not a super big deal but still not right.
So no update on if this will ever get fixed then?

Late response here but wanted to let you know we did pass this to the team earlier.
Question for you. When you go to pick your team, if you turn off the controller and back on does that switch the color?
Typically power cycling the controller and just comes back up as the same colors as before. However, if battery dies on the primary controller and it gets connected with a USB cable without repairing the primary controller status, it comes up with a new set of colors. Using the Elite2 controller always assigns 2 colors. One color you can select and the other is usually a dummy color. Though on occasion both colors get stuck as selected and you have to restart the game. If USB cable is plugged in to the xbox one X and has nothing connected to it, it also assigns the USB a color even though there is no controller attached.
