@T2HDAdding the women is a cool gimmick. But let's be honest...is anyone going to play more than 1 game with them???
Its kinda the same as NHL Threes....just a gimmick to get some.attention but its a mode that nobody will play

I don't think adding women to a game is a "gimmick" when women make up for 48% of those that play video games. One reason why I wake up every morning and choose to be here for EA is how they continue to push the limits across all titles. From new game engines to their efforts in making gaming more inclusive and available to everyone in the world. I myself am very excited for this content update and sit down with my daughter tonight with those teams. She asked me one time if she could create a female skater when it was not yet available, so it's cool now that EA makes experiences like this more relatable.
I mean, if you really think about it how cool would it be to capture 48% of that demographic to help build up the sport even more. Be part of that process. More players in the NHL franchise might just lead to bigger gaming budgets which in turn could result in more developers in areas of the game where you would like to see more features on.
Threes is a popular mode. We have a thread here where others in the community find it very important to be able to play it.
We'll try our best to get an answer on whether helmetless players will be a feature this year. Keep in mind these forums are a channel to vocalize requests, concerns, and chat about the game. This is one channel among the variety the team uses to help steer them in the direction they want to go with the game. No all suggestions may come to fruition. We'll do our jobs as Forum Community Managers to keep the devs filled in on what the community is chatting about so they're constantly in the know.
- 4 years ago@EA_Blueberry Thanks. I'll just wait till NHL 23 to see what they add for offline users. Many of us don't have lots of hope but beggars can't be choosers

@EA_Blueberry All we want with this thread is the option for helmetless players and vintage goalie masks. Will that ever come to NHL 22?
- 4 years ago@jlnhl2001 I'd wait till NHL 23. Doubt it happens for 22

So check this out. Someone in another Hockey Forum posted a modded roster for NHL 14 where they created players without helmets and goalies without masks or with vintage goalie masks. So if someone who isn't privy to the EA code is able to do this on an 8 year old version of the EA game why isn't it a simple fix for the people who wrote the code? So many features are added to this franchise that nobody asked about or cared about. The helmetless player option is already in the game (just not for us). The vintage goalie masks are in the game (just not for us). The vintage goalie masks are also in the game on the fans of the visiting teams (but not for us). Here's a screenshot from the modded NHL 14 roster showing the Canadiens bench full of players NOT wearing helmets.
Also, here are two screenshots from NHL 2K8. The vintage teams included with the game didn't have helmets either. The goalies had vintage masks (and you could create a goalie with a vintage mask). Imagine what NHL 2K22 would have been like given what NBA 2K22 looks and plays like?
I hope 2K and the company known as San Diego Studio (who makes MLB: The Show) are reviewing this forum. I think it won't take them long to see that the market is RIPE for a competitor's NHL game. Now I'm done.
Note to EA, if you want to keep your loyal customers, you're going to have to start giving the customer what they've asked for (for years now).
You can still save yourselves. Just patch this game and test the patch BEFORE you announce and release it. All you had to do was post something like "we know you're all anticipating this month's patch and we're working hard on it to ensure that it fixes the bugs and adds the features you've asked for." I have patience for that. I don't have patience for what we've experienced. This month's patch wore my patience out. Thank you. Peace out.

@T2HDMan that blue ice and ad free boards on NHL 2k8. Beautiful. I might have to go back to that game soon. I own a brand new copy of it, just need to get a new Xbox 360 and I'll be able to play it.
It's superior to NHL 22 in terms of customization options. Even has a goalie mask editor! And custom music too on the 360 version at least.

@SvenArne1232k8 and the modded NHL 14 that friend unlocked look like the games that we've been asking for.

Thanks for responding re: the helmetless player option being considered. I appreciate that.
Since we've honestly asked for this for several years now, I think it's time to give us this option within the next patch. I guarantee you, that will make the percentage of people playing NHL 22 over other games extremely happy.
It's a chance to mend the wounds that we're all suffering from. Given how much we spent to buy this game, there really is no reason we can't have this option.
It can't be because helmetless players require some special animation for the hair (or some other issue). Case in point, the female goalies in your latest addition (the IIHF Women's teams) have no masks at all. I realize this is an unintended bug but it shows that NHL 22 can in fact animate players/goalies without helmets. I have to say it was odd when Ray Ferraro commented that this goalie's mask saved her from the shot to the noggin (picture included).
Further, you have countless Alumni players/goalies playing without helmets or masks already in the game. Funny thing also I should mention is that Plante was the first one to wear a vintage goalie mask yet he's in the game without anything.
Please EA, listen to your existing customers. Further, the female market (the 48%) that you're trying to capture would also LOVE to be able to create the Alumni Legends that weren't in the game as they played in their days...without a helmet! If gamers are big enough hockey fans to buy NHL 22 (regardless of sex) they're most likely aware of the Legends who didn't wear helmets. We just want to be part of "EA Sports - It's in the Game!" OK? Give us all what we want please! Thank you.
- KlariskraysNHL4 years agoHero@T2HD Being able to create our own skaters is kind of a thin line when it comes to being able to do certain things. The mode might require certain rules to be in places that don't allow for created players to have no helmets because it is considered an official NHL type mode where as World of Chel isn't exactly the NHL so you get the freedom to go helmetless. And who knows if they are allowed to speak on this or not but I feel this would more than likely be the case for why it isn't in the game.
Real question that should be answered... Are the developers allowed to have helmetless players in the franchise mode? - T2HD4 years agoRising Veteran
Blueberry posted this earlier: "We'll try our best to get an answer on whether helmetless players will be a feature this year."
I don't take that as a no or a yes. We've been asking for several years now for this feature. If they were bound by a NHL rule I think they'd have let us know years ago to avoid all this wasted time and effort posting and replying to our wish list item.
If they're bound and cannot give us this, then not letting us know is a cruel prank and injustice to loyal fans (who can live with a "NO" if it is due to something out of their control).
Be well.
- KlariskraysNHL4 years agoHero@T2HD If it can b e put on and off on Created Skaters in WoC then there is literally zero reason it couldn't be done easy in your mode. They love to not answer questions because of getting in trouble or whatever. Hell it took them idk how many years to tell us what attributes do when they know damn well what they do. So yes you should get an answer to something so simple with a Yes or No.

Here's my post of the day re: why we should have the ability to create helmetless players AND have vintage goalie masks within the NHL 22.
Last night I was playing NHL2K8 again (still my GO TO hockey game after all these years) and was editing the 1971 Boston Bruins team that I'd unlocked via the Challenges within the game. I'm only two teams away from unlocking all the classic vintage teams. I played one game as the 1993 Kings versus the 1971 Bruins.
Once these teams are unlocked, you can edit the roster within the game for the name and numbers of all the players. The correct data re: their weight, height, left or right, and where they're from etc. is already there for you.
Please take a look at these pictures. You can plainly see that Bobby Orr, Phil Esposito and the rest of the Bruins are on the ice with no helmets. They were all created for the roster without helmets. I didn't even have to create helmetless players. You can also see Gretzky, Kurri, and Robitaille plainly. The 1971 Bruins jerseys did not have the players last names on the jerseys. 2K Sports, it's in the game.
When editing Gerry Cheevers, I had the option of choosing from several vintage goalie masks and could even add a logo, stitches and change the color of the mask. I went with white, no logo and stitches just like Gerry Cheevers wore in real life. Again, 2K Sports, it's in the game.
Please share this with the Developers. If a game that is 14 years old can give the fans what they want, there really is no reason EA can't do the same in this day and age. Especially given how long the loyal customers have been asking for this. Please take note. We want a patch for NHL 22. We don't want to wait yet another year for NHL 23 to come out with these options. You patch and add tons of artwork that seemingly nobody asked for (especially within CHEL). You can do it. Save yourselves and ensure that your customers remain loyal and repeat. There's a limit to everyone's patience.
Thank you.
- 4 years ago@T2HD NHL 2K8 is the best. If NHL 23 doesn't have what I want I'm going back to 2K8 full time.
- T2HD4 years agoRising Veteran@SvenArne123 Amen brother! Yesterday I added 15 classic NHL Arena songs to my custom soundtrack that NHL2K8 offers (as a start). Now when the Blackhawks enter the ice I now hear their theme song "Keys to the City." I've added "Get Ready for This" and many other popular NHL Arena songs to when other teams hit the ice. Because of the awesome job they did of creating the Classic Legends teams, it only takes minutes to name and number the existing players and tweak the goalie equipment. With all this fun in mind, IF the next NHL 22 patch incorporates helmetless players and vintage goalie masks into the game (EA not long ago HAD the vintage goalie masks available within CAP), EA won't lose me as a loyal customer who has been with them since the Sega Genesis days. Devs, PLEASE take notice and give us what we've been asking for within this forum for several years now. Thank you.
- 4 years ago@T2HD Hoping for it in NHL 23
- T2HD4 years agoRising Veteran
March update dropped and still no helmetless player option within CAP. Very disappointing!
- 4 years ago@T2HD It won't be available until at least NHL 23. I bought a new 65 inch tv the other day.
@EABlueberry I would love to also buy a PS5 and NHL 23 in October but hoping for this helemtless players option. - T2HD4 years agoRising Veteran@Atishksingh So sad. They could add helmetless players to NHL22....if they wanted to. Congrats re: the TV!
- 4 years ago@T2HD Thanks buddy. NHL 21 looks amazing on it.
I can only imagine how good NHL 23 will look on it...... - 4 years ago
Could there also be a option where we can put helmets on helmet less players please ?
And have a complete selection of the old style Goalie mask that can be put on ANY & ALL Goelies old & new anywhere , anytime ,any mode.
Also anyway of getting Jason Voorhees different mask for fun ?
- 4 years ago@jamiestang There's is the option. Just go to edit player and put a helmet on them
- KlariskraysNHL4 years agoHero@T2HD See over a month later and they can't even get a simple answer. That is the problem with this team from top to bottom. Can't answer a damn question. Say Yes, No, or working on it. And if it can't be added for reasons grow a pair and say it. But that isn't the EA way.

Feedback on this has been passed along and as Forum Community Managers we have limitations on what information is available to us. We are not working on the game itself nor included within the development process. Based off what we are aware of at this moment, there are no plans for this feature to be implemented for NHL 22 unless otherwise news is announced we were not informed of. I don't think it's something they "can't" add, unless it's something the NHL wouldn't permit. I know some Madden players want to see that OG ambulance come back on the field and run over players like it did way back in the day. I highly doubt the NFL would allow that nowadays with concussions being an issue. - 4 years ago@EA_Blueberry It is weird whats allowed in video games and whats not.
Like hows a game like Call of Duty or GTA allowed but Madden can't add an old ambulance because its promotes concussions?
Whats next they gna take out fighting and hitting from the NHL games? Lol
Not hating on anyone just doesn't make sense to me how this world operates sometimes?
Unfortunately in this WOKE world we live in people just can't makes things for fun without always having to check if its ok to have fun anymore. - 4 years ago
Lets keep this post alive so we can have it for NHL 23.
- T2HD4 years agoRising Veteran@Atishksingh Sadly, this is the 3rd year in a row that I've suggested the helmetless option (along with vintage goalie masks). It would be much better if they'd just have said "no" so I didn't get my hopes up and/or waste my time posting annual requests. IMHO, they care more about the transactional additions that generate revenue for them post launch within Ultimate Team and CHEL. They add countless items to CHEL post initial launch and spend countless hours adding new gimmick packs to Ultimate Team. I'd love to hear an explanation why those investments of time and money couldn't be spent towards making the base game itself more appealing to the masses (who've continued to support EA by buying their game every year in spite of not giving us what we've asked for). A better game for the core is an investment that will generate revenue as well. I'm not sure why they don't see that. They might also counter that they spend countless hours updating jerseys, arena names etc. to improve the game. To that I say they should be doing that anyways and not treating it like it is some HUGE gift to the people who spent $90 on this game.
