empty net the guy will score but the player doesn't touch the net or shoot

How on nhl game sometimes in a empty net the guy will score but the player doesn't touch the net or shoot and the game counts it as a goal even if doesn't land in the net. This happened in nhl 20 and now it happened in 21. From the blue line i go to shoot but got checked and the puck slides on side of the net not in the net itself and the game counts it as a goal.

Im playing nhl on ps4. Is this a glitch or a new rule?

  • With the net empty, while you are headed towards the goal, does the opposing player hit you from behind? Trip you? If yes, this is not a bug, but an NHL rule, if a player is tripped, and loses control of the puck with the net empty, it counts as a goal.

25.1 Awarded Goal – A goal will be awarded to the attacking team when the opposing team has taken their goalkeeper off the ice and an attacking player has possession and control of the puck (or would have gained possession and control) in the neutral or attacking zone, without a defending player between himself and the opposing goal, and he is prevented from scoring as a result of an infraction committed by the defending team (see 25.3 Infractions – When Goalkeeper is Off the Ice, below)

    Hello, @Wiztech36

This isn't an issue I've seen before. Can you get some video of it happening?

  • I don't have a video but its extremely rare. It happens whenever i am on the blue line near my brothers net when its empty. He checks me all the sudden the goal light goes on When i didn't even shoot the puck i was unable to when he checked me. If it happens again ill record a video. On nhl 20 It happened once and I just got NHL 21 Last Friday first time playing a game against my brother on it and it happened.
