i am not new to the EA NHL FRANCHISE but i keep on forgetting going into a new season do teams get rewarded with bigger cap space because right now i am almost into my playoffs of my second year and as of right now it says for next year i have only bout 10.3mil cap space left but i have like 10 guys still i have to re-sign and some are major players....someone give me some advice please
There is no reward to get extra cap space. Next years available cap space is just an estimate and is what you are allowed to use to sign your players during the season. They don’t officially announce what the salary cap for the next year will be until after the playoffs. I usually found it ended up being more when it was announced, and you get even more if a player from your team retires, but obviously those are not guarantees.
You will know exactly how how much space you have before the draft and the contract asks could be a little different, so it’s a good idea to find out what your players want beforehand and make any trades needed at the draft to be able to fit them in.
thanks for responding so what i gathered from your explaination is that when next season starts the cap space amount might be more then what it says NOW even before i do any signings or tradings in the off-season
So if you’re still in the playoffs or regular season, that means they haven’t officially announced what the cap for next season will be yet. The salary cap will be announced AFTER the playoffs end but BEFORE the draft and it will not change after that though. Once they show retirements, you will know exactly how much cap space you have for next season and it will probably be different than what it shows NOW.
I would always check how much space I had and who wanted what amount just before I started the draft because that is the last chance to make trades before resigning everybody.
thats exactly what i thought i just couldn't remember cuz its been so long since i went through this process it slipped my mind
