Franchise mode crashing - error code CE-34878-0

I can't advance in my franchise on NHL 18. The game crashes and a blue screen with the error code CE-34878-0 appears. 

This occurs no matter what I do in the NHL part of the franchise. However, I can do pretty much everything in the AHL part of the franchise but my NHL team is unplayable.

I've followed every suggested step to fix the problem including reinstalling the game, reinitializing the system and of course restarting the console itself.
