Okay.. this is what I have learned. Since I have asked this question before and got no answers.. I’m surprised you got a reply.. but this is what I have learned.
The AI explanation didn’t help. Is that AI teammates learn in a positive way or the AI opponent learns in a negative way? And is that your tendencies so that your teammates can adjust or is that how the other team learn your habits to play against you? That part I haven’t figured out yet. So I just keep it at 3/6 for now.
Okay.. CPU strategy what I have learned is more like an offensive awareness slider. At 0/6 the other team will play as programmed as a default. It doesn’t know or care that it is losing or winning, it will play the default setting with no adjustments. So if its down by 5 goals, it wont do anything to score to catch up, it will just play to score. At 6/6 it is the most aggressive offensive setting. If your team is down by one 2min into the 1st period it will launch into an all out attack to get that goal back. It also will try to score all the time. If its down by 5 or up by 5, it will attack attack attack. This is good if your team is down and losing, but it wont do anything to defend. It will just be aggressive. So what I do is keep my team just one tick above the CPU. So if I have the CPU at 3/6, then my team is 4/6. What I’m saying is that its a score awareness slider. At 0 it is not aware at 6 its going to come at the opponent.
The AI adjustment slider is a bit different. This is how smart the team plays in a given situation. Say your team is up by 2 goals in the 3rd with 5min left. At 0/6 the offense and Defense will try to score if they have the puck. But with the AI slider at 6/6 then the computer will only send 2 forwards into the zone and leave the D behind the blue line for a counter attack. But this goes both ways… this means the other team is also smarter and it will depend on the players offense and defensive awareness rating to take over. In other words, it affects how smart the players are.
I hope this helps… think of it as a race car driver. At CPU strategy at 0, the driver is unaware what place its in. It will drive around the track but not aware if its in the lead or in last, it will just drive. At 6/6, it will do whatever it can to pass other cars. At 3/6 it will pass but not be as aggressive.
The AI is the intelligence. At 0/0 the driver wont be smart at how it drives. It’s just going to drive as its default. At 6/6, then the driver will be smart and find ways to pass.
I have my learning slider at 3/6 because I haven’t figured out what it exactly does yet. At CPU strategy I keep my team at 4/6 and the other teams at 3/6. And the AI..I’m still learning but I was playing at 0/6 for about 35 games and got frustrated how my team would always attack even up by goal late in the period and the other team would always score on me. But I bumped it up to 3 the last few games and I like it better. The D comes back in case the other team counters and I have lowered my GAA and my save % has gone up because the team plays a better defense despite having the other team play better also.
