I am so, so, SO sick of EA's connection problems. CONSTANT disconnects.
For the last few days, almost every single game has ended with a disconnection from the EA servers. A good 90% of them, easy. I've been relegated in Rivals TWICE because of this garbage.
And it's nothing new! At least as far back as NHL 18, there have been lag and connection issues. The last few games have suffered from major rubberbanding (game freezes for a few seconds, then speeds to catch up), which then seems to throw off timing for the rest of the game, resulting in a delay between input and action that makes the rest of the game super difficult, if not unplayable.
It's pretty damn clear it's server side, too. No, my connection isn't the problem. Yes, I've tried everything under the sun, including all of the copy/paste junk that customer service recommends. Speed and latency tests are all fine. Hell, UOTrace even shows that I'm literally only one single hop from the server.
Pro tip: It's ok to step away from adding microtransaction content every waking moment to fix bugs, I'm sure EA can handle the financial hit.
Bitterly yours,
A pissed off gamer
I was hoping I'd have this settled by now, but no. I do have news, though.
The powerline thing was a bust. My condo is wired such that the two outlets I'd have to use are not on the same circuit.
I found a 50 foot Cat 7 ethernet cable for fairly cheap, and it has shielding that's supposed to make it fray and tear resistant, so I fed that along the wall around the room. Cats hate citrus, so I rubbed a little orange oil on it, too. Seems to work, and is acceptable as a long term solution.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to test the connection because my controller's left stick broke from pushing down too hard/much. New one's coming today.
I did browse the menus some, though. No lost connections, but a couple of those messages from above about not owning the game. I plan to contact Microsoft about that next time it happens.
Finally, I'm dead serious when I say that you guys would benefit from putting a disclaimer in that "Lost Connection" message. Something like, "NOTE: This game is particularly sensitive to lapses in connectivity. If you are on wireless, it is strongly recommended you switch to a wired connection if possible." I'd bet money that you'd see a decrease in complaints, and it would give you something to point at if people do complain.
