Well, there's hundreds of ideas we all want to these modes but first EA has to stop removing features which already were on this mode since beginning. Like now on NHL 21 have this new revamped BAP with more depth put in but somehow they removed transactions and injuries tab which are very important features. The whole conversation system is very unfinished and full of bugs also you cannot basically get injured anymore.. There's no challenge on be a pro anymore, you will be a superstar no matter what. You don't have to earn your spot on the NHL roster anymore not to mention playing on top lines. There's no AHL anymore, you go straight to the NHL and that's it. We all wanted some depth to the Be a pro but not this way taken out the challenge.
Custom arena music is the thing we have been wanted back (again back) since NHL 14. Music in this game is unbelievable bad and makes the playing experience so much worse. There's no hockey arena feeling on this game.
@refined98I'd like to jump in here and add my opinion as a frequent BAP and FM player. I don't play online and my schedule has me pretty limited towards my game play hours but I agree with you and w/ @SkylerJames13 on these topics 100%. BAP I'm a 91 rank but my shooting is still an 8. Come on EA, this stuff makes zero sense. The AI roster moves in BAP are totally insane. Roster moves from year to year are actually worse than FM. They happen way too often and they are major roster changes. I demanded a trade and got sent to the Bruins and was playing with Marchand and Marchessault on the first line and was having some fun as we were dominating. After winning the cup, Marchand is gone (thought maybe he retired at age 35) but then saw his stats on the ticker the following year. Marchessault stayed but then we were stuck with Jordan Eberle. This constant rotisserie of players year to year is dumb. I don't mind a couple semi-big names (or rookies) being tossed around every year but keep the core players from their teams on their teams. The financial perks you can choose to purchase are lazy and meaningless too. I figured investing in the stock market I'd see an increase/decrease in money but I guess that's not the point. I like the financial perks but I think they all should be permanent perks with zero cool down. You're a superstar after all, why buying anything that helps your life and your game should have negative effects?!

In my opinion, having this game be a yearly release is really what limits not only what is added each year, but also how it works. Contracts, coaches, scouting and the trade deadline were all really cool adds and great ideas until we really got into them and notice that they are more of a nuisance than anything. Contracts haven't changed in years and the system has been stale for awhile now. Every coach looks for the same player types, not to mention being assigned a random one at the start of your franchise. Manual scouting is such a chore and not user friendly at all, especially when potential is literally the only thing that matters. The trade deadline is a very cool feature, but the values of players on that day as well as the actual trades made cause way more harm than good. I think the new be a pro suffered and was a let down for the same reasons as well. They clearly spent a lot of time focusing on your rookie year that it seems they took things out (junior year) or left things the way they were before (contracts) simply due to time constraints. This of course is just my opinion and I just mentioned a few quick examples of where things have been left as is with obvious flaws. I do hope in years to come some of this can be fixed instead of adding more "unpolished" features although I do understand why the need to add more features takes priority.
- 5 years ago@Beauts90 Another thing that really factors into the staleness, the lack of attention, and poor quality of BAP and FM is the attention they give to creating new packs and gimmicks for the HUT and whatever cash grab modes they have.
They very poorly implement these features like chemistry, coaches etc but they don’t balance anything. They take out core features, add in “new” features but don’t test it or try to balance it so that it doesn’t break the game, or the realism.
It’s just a pathetic excuse of a game, this year. I mean the past few years have been awful but this takes the cake.
It was crazy how from nhl 15, to I think 17, it was the same game with new rosters. Obviously they tweaked things but there was hardly a difference and definitely not worth full price.
This game is like an indie early access game on steam. Full of bugs and broken features, and empty game modes in FM and BAP.
It still appalls me how they butchered BAP so badly.
Give me back junior season, quit holding my hand and forcing me to become a superstar without any challenge. Injury/transaction tab.
Fix Incompetent BAP GM AI that trades entire teams in a season.
Don’t give me the C after one season, or when I’m traded to a new team and I don’t even play a game for them yet.
Give me more than 2 contract offers. Update the contracts.
Let me edit position and play styles in FM. Fix the awful GM AI trading in FM, fix the absurdly mind boggling trade values that don’t make sense. Fix the chemistry system, balance it. Fix coaches so they are more flexible, and allow us to customize them.
Tons of other things I’m forgetting. I’m hardly even asking for anything new. I’m just asking them to fix the stupidity that led to taking out these features/implementing features without balancing or testing.- Beauts905 years agoSeasoned Ace
@SkylerJames13 I completely agree with all the points you made here. Its funny, NHL 15-18 were more decoration for my house than actual games I played, but they roped me back in with 19 and 20. I also think 21 is another good step as far as offline gameplay goes for the most part.
- I do enjoy posts where we can share ideas for improvements on the offline modes and I appreciate it getting pinned to the top so I will try and keep this brief and to the point so I don't wander too far off the point of this thread.
I guess my expectations for be a pro were really low as I figured it would be a huge amount of work considering it wasn't much before. Maybe their target were kids who only want to be superstars and it is actually a big success to EA, I really don't know, I think I played it for less than an hour before getting bored of it. It will probably a few years, if ever before I am interested in it as they would have to include everything you have mentioned for me to enjoy it. As soon as I saw the big focus was a be a pro this year I also didn't have much expectations for many upgrades to franchise mode either.
The pandemic definitely left its mark on this game as it has more bugs than I have seen in any previous year. It seems whatever they tried to do with performance affecting players hasn't worked out (trade values) as all as I see there is another possible bug of overalls and potentials going down on all players even after good seasons (although I haven't had a chance to look into that myself)
I obviously have no idea what they have been doing for pre testing the game this year because of the pandemic, but things are slipping through more than before for sure. I have tried to sign up for EA Playtesting previously, but haven't had any success in getting picked and I'm also not sure if I am even able to pick which EA game I was hoping to pre test as NHL would be all I want.
