First off I didn't even get much of a push animation to begin with but the moment I hit RS the ref put his arm up. In addition I play a lot of defense in EASHL and you cannot push or shove a player standing in front of the net either. It is an instant penalty. The net battles in front of the net are borderline unusable due to the fact a player needs to stand still to engage in an animation. So not having the ability to move a guy in front without a penalty just gives defense one less tool to use.
I understand that you don't want players skating around and bumping or shoving people without the puck but in those two scenarios it should not be a penalty.

Aside from the technical issues, this is my #1 complaint about the game this year. I am loving pretty much all the other changes but interference calls need to be toned down quite a bit for defenders guarding in front of their net. If however EA is trying to steer people to only using net battles (whose effectiveness has been spotty in the past IMO) then perhaps someone from EA can chime in and say so. But as a defender if the guy I am covering is at the back door or in front of the net I certainly would not expect and interference penalty for a stationary shove. This is not something that is called IRL.
@IceLion68 It's not strange defenders need to be able to 'take some room' infront of the net - considering the craving forwards got for the cross crease.
But I dont know if they can allowed by programing more forgivness only infront of the net without changing body contact all over the ice.
Cause Im guessing this is mostly a problem in the area infront of the goalies? - when you are fighting for a good positioning.
I dont experience the same in the 1vs1 - but I can imagine it to be a bigger problem for you chel guys.

Just took one in a squad battle trying to tie up the draw. Took another when I ran into the CPU player that stopped dead in front of me in the neutral zone. The game consnstantly interferes, runs picks, or otherwise makes my players stumble or get snagged up like their jerseys are made of barbed wire.
Game is bad. 🤷♂️
Me too. Somedays you can't even fart near anyone without the ref calling interference penalties. Other days you can hit guys so late and it gets waved off.
I get a lot called whilst driving to the net, taking my shot and the momentum of the player takes him into the stationary defenders even though you've already switched to a different player and are not in control of the penalized player.
