Is there a way to use my "Be a Pro" characters on a custom team?

I have made 3 custom characters but when i search for them under free agents when trying to add them to a custom team they do not show. I tried the editing one to make him 19 (i heard they must be at least 19 to be on a custom nhl team) but in this case the stats were just of some random i hadnt been training or made like my characters. So is there anyway i can use a "Be a  Pro" character on my custom team, without having to recreate the player in create a player. Thank you
