My goalie is always horrible!!?

Why is it that in any offline game mode (difficulty pro or higher) the computer goalie or goalies are so much better then my computer controlled goalie, no matter how good he is? And why do all computer shooters have Sidney Crosby like accuracy. When my best players fan on the puck and miss empty nets constantly?

It's a simple matter of AI. As you increase you difficulty setting, the Human AI degrades and the CPU AI improves. It forces you take a more active role in the game. So for example, if you're goalie isn't as strong, make sure you defend against good scoring chances.

The game wants this to happen so you play stronger with all the players.  In real life a goalie doesn't stop every shot that comes at him, and if you are playing on the Rookie difficulty the goalie will.  This is why I prefer playing All-Star difficulty. Hope that helped 🙂

  • I'm not playing on rookie!! Read the post. On pro difficulty or higher. And I play defence just fine if the computer only take 11 shots in a game and scores 4 times on a 97 goalie, defence is not the issue.

That's not what davispaz99 said or implied, he was just using this as an example. Opponent's AI is rigged to do better than your own with higher difficulty, as rallycap91 put it. 🙂

Same here, it's been happening for years.

I have a goalie rated 84 or better and by the end of the season he has easily the worst save percentage in the entire league.

Most will be .900 to .935 and my goalie will always finish with roughly an .830

I don't get it, and it's always goals late and from the point or some really bad angles.

Computer only gets about 5-15 shots but scores at least 2 goals,

where as I always get over 35 shots, sometimes about 60 yet still only have 0-5 goals.

    hahaha

    oh well.

It's beyond stupid though. They score on almost every shot. The last game they had 2 shots in the first period and both were goals. Its so dumb. You can't let them shoot at all which is not fun. Game is great but they never fix this issue. When you have a 90 or better goalie, they should play like that. Not like a 75 goalie and let the easiest shots in.
