15 year olds are only allowed to play 5 games in the WHL (unless their Midget team's season has ended) so I guess they force 16 to stop a desync from occuring.
QMJHL age rules say you need to be a minimum 16 years old to play.
Players like John Tavares recieved "exceptional player" status in the OHL and were allowed to play at 15 so maybe that's why? Honestly I don't know, it does seem weird to see different requirements for the game
- @TTZ_Dipsy Yes but some players like Joe Veleno (QJMHL) and recently Connor Bedard (WHL) have been granted exceptional statuts. So I don’t know why they only allow it for the OHL in their game.
