NHL 94 Rewind

I ended up having my issue resolved via email. When contacting Amazon, let them know that you've already been in contact with the publisher, Electronic Arts, and that you've been told that Amazon is responsible for distributing the promo codes to customers who pre-ordered NHL 21.

After some back and forth and exchanging emails, someone from their promotions and marketing team was finally able to provide a promo code via email.

The entire process is like pulling teeth. Just all around ineptitude from representatives of EA and Amazon due to poor communication.

Here’s the text of the email I got from Amazon Customer Service:

Apparently Blueberry’s efforts didn’t inform them of anything. Or something. 

@discoursian I had to go through a similar process with Amazon's support and show them EA's website with the promotion of the NHL '94 Rewind pre-order bonus. After providing everything they needed, they were able to get me in contact with someone who was helpful and able to process the code.

Like I said before, it's like pulling teeth dealing with customer support teams, and this further exemplifies how poorly this whole promotion was handled on the part of EA and other retailers.

We are creeping up on month of dealing with this.  Just be honest with us - if it was a failure on every level and there is nothing that can be done (although all that has to happen is for EA to issue codes via a message through PSN - I don't see what's so hard about this.  It ensures that everybody who preordered gets what they deserve), just tell us and stop stringing us along.  Enough damage has been done that even if you issue the code tomorrow most of us would still leave with an awful taste in our mouths.

Just say "We can't get our * together and we screwed all of you over." Then we can stop bookmarking this thread, give up any hope of EA, Amazon, GameStop, etc. doing the right thing and go back to face our lives during this holiday quarantine (without the thing we were looking forward to bringing us some joy DURING the quarantine).

I for one will never preorder a game from EA again.  And truly, NONE of us needed this added aggravation during this time.  This has become a total joke.

Jumping in here to let you know this hasn't been abandoned and it's still being invested at higher levels within EA & Amazon. I haven't received any updates yet as it's still being looked into, our deepest apologies for advising you it was addressed when it appears it's not. I have this thread as a top priority for my day-to-day tasks, so the moment I hear any info on what exactly happened to the emails that were supposed to be sent out I'll let you know. It must be hard to be told to wait and be patience when it's been this long, but please continue to do so while we track down a solution for you all as soon as possible. 

Wondering how they would get our email address?  Previously provided PSN ID... did we also need to provide email or proof of purchase?  

@EA_Blueberry I do appreciate you working on this.  However we should use real talk and say, “We understand that you have paid for something that you have not received.”

The reality is that you (the company not you personally) are obligated to make us whole.  The fact that the company has not come up with a way to do this in a month’s time tells me that it’s not really that much of a priority.

This issue was not intended. The plan was to have everyone get their codes on time. Unfortunately, that didn't happen with Amazon orders. Due to the holiday, we don't have a current update on this. Hopefully, we'll have some news next week.

I decided that the situation wasn’t difficult enough. I’ve now entered into a philosophical argument with Amazon: the codes were a “preorder” bonus, not a “preorder and retain” bonus. If they had given the code out on time, the fact that I returned the game wouldn’t have mattered. At this point, Amazon has been ignoring all of my contact for about a week. 

@EA_Aljo @EA_Blueberry Again...Not taking shots at you all for trying to help.  However, it sure seems at this point that this is not a priority for anyone at the company.  All I am asking for is to get what I paid you for.  If you choose not to give me what I paid for, then give me my money back.  This does not seem like a problem that would take a month to solve.

Perhaps you could DM me with a name/phone number of someone in customer retention. I would be glad to speak with them and try to work out a resolution.

I know it’s a drop in the bucket, but I will share that my son asked for the FIFA game for Christmas and I told him that we will not be buying a game from EA because they have cheated us out of a game that we have paid for.

just checking in and no surprise that no progress has been made. Just release the game for sale which is what was intended anyway so i can buy it.

And now it's December 3rd.  No reply or acknowledgement of my last post from @EA_Blueberry or @EA_Aljo.  Again...I'm just trying to get what I paid for.  I really don't enjoy making message board posts, but at this point it's become a matter of principal.

If the last post is true and EA is selling the game, then the solution just became super easy.  Reach out to the handful of people on this thread.   Ask them to supply proof of their amazon pre-order and then give them a credit for the value of the game at the EA Store.   

This is not an issue of EA trying to do something nice.  It's simply giving a paying customer what they are owed.  Fulfilling a promotion.  I'm pretty sure there is a technical/legal term for when you entice someone to pay for one product and then you take their money and give them something different altogether.

Again thanks to the mods for their help, but the lack of updates does not inspire confidence.

Returned this week from being out for most of last week. I reached out to our contacts handling this task for updates, I'll let you know here what I discover as soon as possible. Thanks for hanging in there and completely understand why you feel that way as a paying customer. 

So quick question. It was announced that the game would be available again in early December. Any idea when that is happening? I’ll buy it at this point. I don’t care. I just wanna play it. Preordered on Amazon of course

Well, I was finally able to install the game from the xbox store without a code.

Can confirm this is still being looked into as something did not go as planned from a technical aspect to have the codes sent out. We're working with Amazon on addressing it. Will update you all soon as we can. 

Post 82: Blueberry says they were informed that Amazon emailed out codes. Didn’t happen. (3 weeks ago)

Post 88: Ouzer says they talked to apparently the one knowledgeable person at Amazon and got a code (2 weeks ago)

We need to get Blueberry in touch with the Amazonian that Ouzer talked to. 

I appreciate the effort that Blueberry, et al, is putting in to solve the problem, but I’m still ticked that they are solving EA’s problem, not the customer’s. More concerned with solving the technical issues of the communication breakdown instead of endpoint relief for the customer. We could all have spent the last three weeks bodychecking pixelated sprites while the communication breakdown was investigated, but keeping the customer happy is apparently not EA’s primary focus.
