Sumit is just a customer support person and holds no real power/permission to grant anything - they are right in referring you to PlayStation support since they technically have some power in monetary allowances but most, if not all these codes are one time use only. On paper, Sumit did everything right and it falls on the player to look after their account. "Acts of God" will always side with the company.

It's always highly recommended to backup important data on a usb or external drive for this exact purpose. I don't mean to sound like a bad guy but if there was any inkling there would be a surge or storm or whatever, you need to turn your system off and/or use a surge protector. It's more of an electronics issue than the game.

First check your cloud saves, sometimes those can be perfectly safe depending on your auto upload settings. If thats corrupted too you can always try a full restore but you should back everything up beforehand. It seems strange the entire team would just delete with the data though - save your stuff forst then just delete and restart the game; I know this has worked with others in the past
