Thank you for the details we were asking for to those that submitted it. We passed it over to the team and they've got it tracked for investigation.
If anyone comes across any workaround fixes on their end that have helped avoid this from happening please share if you can to help others. When we hear updates from the team on this bug we'll post it here.
Hey, all.
Got a question from the dev team. What controller schemes are you using?
Are you able to regain control if you move your right stick?
- 4 years ago@EA_Blueberry I’m using the skill stick setting if that’s what you’re asking. I have not noticed moving the right skill stick nullifies the issue.
Yes, when I move my stick to the backhand the player starts to skate again but then in a few seconds the player stops again.

I am using skill stick settings.
When I push right stick to the right (lefties backhand/righties forehand) player can skate again)

Alerted the team and it's being looked at.
For those on Xbox:
Would you be able to visit this link to see how to recalibrate your controller to rule out stick drift?https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-network/controller/wireless-controller-solution
For those on PS4, an you try the troubleshooting below:

I'm not optimistic this will work but need to toss it out there in the event it could help any of you.
- PlaymakerParker4 years agoNew TravelerI resort to dumping the puck with L1+Right Stick or Right Stick just up for a snapshot. It sometimes helps get rid of the issue momentarily.
- 4 years ago@EA_Blueberry The controller is up to date and recalibrated. I also went into test mode and the controller was responsive. Still having the same problem. This is beginning to be frustrating.

I bet, makes you exposed and the game not playable when you can't control a skater.
The team is looking into this. In the meantime, I'm just doing little more poking on the possibilities of what this X-Factor can be.
I didn't ask before, but are any of you playing with an external hard drive linked up to the console or have anything else plugged into the USB slots for the console? - 4 years ago@EA_Blueberry No external hard drive or anything else plugged in to the console beside the power cord and the hdmi

I am having the same issue as well on xbox series x. Also the controller does not vibrate (have to restart the console every time I play in order for it to work).
Tried one more time.. hoping that maybe the January update fixed it. Nope, every time my player gets the puck he is frozen. This sucks. I have played NHL forever and this year I can't play at all.. so sad.
- PlaymakerParker4 years agoNew Traveler@EA_Blueberry Hi Blueberry, anything new going on with this issue as of this week? I don't know if it's just happening every time I play or not, but the issue is happening more and more to a point where the Franchise homepage (not sure if that's the right terminology) is lagging. Example: I was moving quickly last night and tried to click on the "Calendar" after navigating from the "Advance Day" link. I went over with my joystick and clicked X (PS5 controller), but it was so lagged that it opened the Player Stats page instead. I had never had that happen before.
Could this all come down to the internet connection? I know I had luck in the past with weird bugs by disconnecting from Wifi when playing offline game modes, but I have gigabit internet now and faster upload/download speeds than before. Combine that with the newest technology in the PS5 and color me confused. - 4 years ago@EA_Blueberry Any progress?

Having this issue occasionally as well.
Nowhere near as frequent as some of the videos thank the Gods, but enough that it's annoying.
Definitely an issue that puts us at a disadvantage as the game requires speed and movement.
Has happened to me on both PS4/PS5 this year and the only things plugged in are Power/HDMI/LAN in the back and USB charging cord in the front - 4 years ago
Because the game is unplayable overall since your last patch it doesn't even matter if this problem ever gets solved. From many different ways to score goals there's only one left. Well done EA. Well done.
- 4 years ago@EA_Blueberry Update please.

The team is still aware of this, however there hasn't been any movement on a fix I'm afraid. :\ - 4 years ago
I just tried again and the issue did not happen, not even once. Could this issue be mysteriously fixed? @ssolo97 have you tried lately?
- 4 years ago@unrealNeil72 Yes two days ago and still encountered it.
well, I was able to play 2 or 3 games without it happening, but played tonight and every time my player gets the puck he is frozen.
Sad that I used to play this game every day and now I try it once every couple of weeks. Why is this not a more widespread issue? We are the unlucky few...
count me in!
I'm also dealing with this issue. I bought NHL 22 approx. 3 months ago and everything was fine. Issue started couple weeks ago, in beginning with few freezes per game, but now it's every time I receive a puck. It's sad that we have to pay for EA bugs :/ - EA_Aljo4 years ago

HI there, @calvinbirch
What system are you playing on and which controller are you using? Have you tried other controllers as well? If you have any more details on exactly what's happening, please let me know. Thanks!
- 3 years ago@EA_Aljo I'm playing Xbox series S, I have this controller:
Name
Xbox
System type
Xbox Wireless Controller - Robot White (2020)
Serial number
09704673325125
Yes, I have tried different controller and there wasn't this issue.
It's basically every time I receive a puck, the left thumbstick freezes. When I do something with right thumbstick, the left starts to work.
If I use 94 controls, left thumbstick works fine, I assume, that this is because in these controls, you don't need a right thumbstick.
I have tried different modes in NHL 22, and this issue is in all of them.
I would be very thankful if there would be some way to fix this issue. - EA_Aljo3 years ago

Hello, @calvinbirch
Does this also happen if you play with the controller plugged in? Have you made sure your controller has the latest firmware update?
