Forum Discussion
I've attached the tests from yesterday and today, the one today was after restarting the router.
And @EA_Aljo , you have to understand @Codo37, we brought up the issue to our Club teammates, nobody cares anymore because they don't play competitively, they are just playing CHEL for fun which is fine. But we have lag 3vs3 or 6vs6 as well and everybody would tell you the same thing as we are, but nobody takes the time to issue a complaint on the forum, why should they, they are not playing HUT. And the player base (on Xbox at least) is already extremly thin in the EU, it's mostly just D1 diehards, the player field used to be much bigger. If you ask people who quit, I'll bet they would tell you because of the connection and because it's not fair. I quit last year around Christmas because of it and I came back for NHL 21 and nothing changed, we've had those problems for years and we've been complaining for years. Best gameplay connection-wise is always the BETA...I wonder why...And you can't show lag in a video, you have to experience it or look at the indicators in the video...
I still invite any Producer or Playtester of NHL 21 to come to my home in Germany on a Sunday afternoon and play 10-15 games of HUT Champions and tell me afterwards that they experienced no fat man lag, that all games felt fair and that they had fun. And I am 99% convined that it will be neither.
@prospero99cWhat about this guy he’s getting packet loss on ea servers? @EA_Aljo

Their packet loss happens before our servers. It then continues since not all the data is being received. I really don't know what exactly is causing this for you, but if we find any issues with the servers, they will be investigated.

I just did another quick test getting lag with packet loss right now as we speak

I am out of suggestions for this. For further assistance, please try contacting @EAHelp through Twitter or open a case with a live support advisor here: https://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/new/. You can also go to facebook.com/eahelphub to get in touch with support. They'll look into this for you. Thanks!

Wait don’t you guys deal with this type of issues on here ? It’s basically a issue on ea,s end as you see I have done the tests and it clearly shows there is something going on .. now your sending me somewhere else why don’t you guys deal with it ?

So far, your test is the only one I'm seeing that shows packet loss when reaching that particular server that isn't being used for NHL. We'll have to see if more issues are reported. I'm currently out of suggestions. That's why I advised contacting another advisor in case they have any other suggestions for you. You're also welcome to wait and see if an issue is discovered with our servers that is resolved.

Whats the server that’s used for nhl 21 I would like to ping and do a trace ?
- EA_Aljo5 years ago
Community Manager
We don't give out the IPs for those servers.
So then what’s the point of doing a traceroute to easo.ea.com if you keep on saying it’s not a nhl ea server ?
- EA_Aljo5 years ago

It shows us the overall quality of your connection. This helps determine if the issue is coming from your equipment, ISP or our servers. This test is run many times a day by many different people. If we see other results showing the same issue, we'll investigate it. Since yours is the only one I'm seeing, we'll have to wait for others also showing packet loss on that particular server before it's investigated.

Okay but you guys can’t keep on saying it’s my isp as it shows it’s not .. I’ll run some more tonight during peak hours and send over the images

Once again, there is nothing I can do to help. You're welcome to provide the tests, but I won't be able to assist with this since I've suggested everything I can.
- 5 years ago@EA_Aljo What does nhl run better on ipv4 or ipv6?
- EA_Aljo5 years ago
Community Manager
IPv4 is recommended over IPv6. Just using IPv6 can cause issues with connecting to other players.
Why does Xbox recommend ipv6 for online gaming
- EA_Aljo5 years ago

The problem is, IPv6 is not as widely used as IPv4. You're welcome to use it. You just may have more issues than if you only were on IPv4. You should be able to use both at IPv4 and 6 on Xbox at the same time, but for those experiencing constant issues with connecting to other players, we recommend using IPv4.

So, another video plus a download link for the original file. Please give that to some of your techicans, they shoud take a look at it.
15 Frames input lag (thats 250 ms by this 60 fps Video and shown ping is 10 ms).
Here a slowmotion to see it:
Here the Download Link for the originals:
Explan again!

I played HUT Champions and on Thursday and Saturday, the games played actually quite fine.
Was Top 50 before playing my last 6 games today and 4 of them played terrible with noticable delay (similar to the one Codo37 showed). On one occasion, the game even went "crazy" and skipped time: Video
I lost to this opponent twice, in the first game he was ragging the puck as well, had him on my Blocked Players List for a long time but due to the "incredible" 15ms connection I had to play him.
BTW, I lost another game because I was disconnected from the EA Servers when I checked the Profile of my opponent during the break between the 2nd and 3rd period, that happens often and the Xbox Dashboard / Overlay is basically unusable while playing NHL online on Xbox One Series X. With my regular Xbox One, I didn't have that problem.
- Codo375 years agoRising Adventurer@EA_Aljo 15 Frames on a 60 Frames Video are 250 ms - thats A LOT!!! 1 second are 60 Frames, so 15 Frames are 1/4 second and that are 250 ms. That is VERY VERY BAD AND UNPLAYABLE. Sunday it was 28 FRAMES thats near half a second but EA will not look at it. Its not acceptable, we spend money for an Game and the online section is a big part of it, thats a dumb answer from you. Is it ok fpr player if the ping shows 250 ms every game? I think not. So do something, send the Video in the download link to a technican that has knowlege about this stuff cause you have clearly no knowledge. The only thing you can is give her dumb answers …

There are many different pieces to keeping your ping low. Our servers are just one part of it. So far, I see no evidence this is on our end. I have repeatedly said this and have repeatedly told you we can't help. For further assistance, you'll need to contact an advisor through Twitter, Facebook, or by opening a case.
- MaraSGc5 years agoSeasoned Adventurer@EA_Aljo I have a period when the game is unplayable again, because the delay of the players is unbelievable, it is impossible to pass, to shoot, which terribly affects the match !! Opponents hold pucks on the stick without any effort .. as if he had a magnet there .. which is frustrating when you can't win any personal duel !!

@EA_AljoI would like to hear an explanation of how the input can be delayed as clearly shown in the excellent videos by @Codo37?
For it to be caused by networking it seems like the controller input needs to travel to the server and back until it can be rendered on the screen. I have never heard about that kind of solution. Usually lag will cause some time travel because of syncing and not constant input delay and constant AI delay.
I also think it´s obvious to see that the AI in the videos by @Codo37 has a very delayed reaction which Is a huge part of the problem, if it only where the player you controlled you probably could overcome the problem to a great extent but the AI playing a quarter second delayed is devastating.Edit: It just hit me that you @EA_Aljo in some other thread described that the AI reaction is increased in SB to make superstar more difficult. I have a hard time seeing this being a networking issue. To me, it seems intentional or a bug.

From the tests they have provided, there's no evidence that the issue is on our end. There are different variables that can cause input delay. It can be your equipment, which is comprised of a modem, router, console, TV, controller, cords, etc. There's the connection itself. This is provided by your ISP. There's all the servers your data passes through as well. There of course are our servers and the game. So far, I'm not seeing anything that points to the issue being on our end. If that were the case, only our server would be showing problems. Since I'm seeing high pings before our servers are hit, it's not on our end.
- 5 years ago@EA_Aljo Do you acknowledge the game according to the provided clips is not behaving as expected?
