Ping Spikes / Packet Loss

I first started having major connection issues the week of March 26, 2018. In two years of playing NHL, I've never had a single problem. Typically, when playing EASHL, I get 8ms ping when connected to an East Host, and 40ms ping when connected to a West Host.

The past two weeks have been miserable when playing, to say the least.  I start out each game at 8ms ping with 0% packet loss. By the the middle of my game, I start feeling extremely heavy, with big-time spikes in lag.  I check my "Network Performance" during the first Intermission and it's always around 55ms - 65ms on FAIR connection, with 10-15% packet loss. I have a few screen shots of the trend line gradually rising from 8ms ping (GREEN) to 60ms ping (YELLOW). By the end of the game, I usually see it gradually coming back down to 8ms (GREEN) from 60ms (YELLOW).

I play in an Online League with thousands of players from all over the world, and there are HUNDREDS of people that are experiencing the EXACT SAME problem the past few weeks.  We all have different ISP's.  With everyone having this same issue AND everyone having different ISP's, this leads me to believe that this is an EA issue!

My ISP is " Pittsburgh - Comcast/xfinity Gigabit ", but friends I play with are on Optimum, Shaw, Verizon FiOS, Rogers, Telus, Bell and Time Warner.

Attached are pictures of my "Network Performance".

Any admins care to come in and help discuss an issue that is plaguing the actual playability of your game?

I'm willing to bet that the problems we're experiencing are due to the "NHL World Championship Tournament" that is currently taking place.  The tournament started on March 24th 2018, and that's the exact date that most players started having connection/packet loss issues.  I'm sure this Tournament currently takes precedence over all other forms of Online Play, so of course the HUT's and EASHL's are all being affected negatively.

If the EA Servers are bogged down and cannot handle the current influx of users, then EA probably shouldn't have hosted a tournament OR it needs to do right and make the necessary adjustments to accommodate all forms of online play.

PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM so that us daily players can get back to enjoying the game again!!!

Feedback from ANYONE at EA on this discussion would be greatly appreciated.

  • I have been having this same exact issue all week, its driving me insane. THIS MUST BE FIXED.

    Hey,

My apologies for the delayed response, given the sheer amount of reports on this I've sent it up for further review. As soon as I have more information on this I will get back to you.

Thanks for your reports and for your patience on this.

Thanks a ton, Roger!  Hundreds of us are being affected, and we're all trying our very best to stay patient.  I look forward to hearing back from you.

    Again, thank you.

  • Are you seriously even trying to do anything Roger and whole EA? I have been playing with this ridiculous connection for two months and EA wont do anything. I seriously doubt that EA will have the rights for NHL in next years cause they dont care about anything. No updates in the game, no real customer service, no honest replies and no any passion for the game itself. It's just sad and pathetic.
