Have talked with chat support twice to try and resolve this issue. Followed all trouble shooting steps they assured me would fix the issue(all listed in this thread by other users...hard reset, router reset, cache clear, connection verification, etc.) None of these worked.
Second chat was finally told this is a known cross-platform issue but that there is no known fix at this point. Asked to be compensated or refunded for my purchase since I only purchased for online play and was told EA will not be assisting with this.
Have been buying EA games (NHL included) for several years but don't think I'll being doing that any more. Customer service for this is a joke.
@TheGr8SplatsbyDo you have open NAT? Do you have Any USB-plug in. IF closed NAT , open your ports. or plug out USB . Restart Xbox.

May have guitar hero USB, don't rember...will check that

Update: unplugged GH USB dongles, restarted console, no more issues...
