Sorry, blowing the thread up this morning... Also noticed opening up hockey bags can cause the error even after an app reset. Not sure how that plays a part but there it is.
To summarize and confirm the information that is going on within this thread (This is specifically for the Dressing Room Error that appears right before the game starts)
- Is everyone who is experiencing this issue on PS4?
- Does the following method work work as a workaround for everyone? - your game has ended, hit the PS button > Settings > Network > Test Connection. Once the test runs you can pop back in your NHL app and you will reconnect and be at the HUB. (If you haven't tried, please do so and report back here)
- Does closing the NHL 19 app and opening it back up again allow every affected user here to play at least 1 match but experiencing the dressing room error?
- Does switching to Mobile data resolve the issue for everyone?
- Does opening up the ports work as a solution?
Thank you for your responses

1. Is everyone who is experiencing this issue on PS4? YES
2. Does the following method work work as a workaround for everyone? - your game has ended, hit the PS button > Settings > Network > Test Connection. Once the test runs you can pop back in to your NHL app and you will reconnect and be at the HUB. (If you haven't tried, please do so and report back here) YES
3. Does closing the NHL 19 app and opening it back up again allow every affected user here to play at least 1 match but experiencing the dressing room error? YES
4. Does switching to Mobile data resolve the issue for everyone? I am unable to test this personally
5. Does opening up the ports work as a solution? I have not tried this yet, if I'm able to enter the first game is there still a chance ports could be the issue?

- Does closing the NHL 19 app and opening it back up again allow every affected user here to play at least 1 match but experiencing the dressing room error? No, I have to restart the PS4 system to get back into a game. Just closing the app works sporadically.
- Does switching to Mobile data resolve the issue for everyone? Have not attempted
- Does opening up the ports work as a solution? Have not attempted, will look into this option.

@PurpleJezus28oX - You do have a point, but earlier in this thread, people have called out that this worked for them. If so, then it is still a possibility that there is an incompatibility between home network configuration/ISP plus the game.
Thanks - Anonymous7 years ago
@NHLiveSupport thanks for the heads up, at this point I'm happy to look into it. I will give it a shot and report back.
@Bunnymen21 when you tried the "test connection" method, once the test was complete did you test it in a ones game or EASHL? The reason I ask is because so many people have dressing room errors, their dropping out of EASHL could give you the error since at that point there would actually not be enough players to play the game. Slightly higher chance in ones game mode to see if the fix actually worked for you.

Frankly it is tricky in general to know if you have found a fix or when the error is "yours" or not because the people you matched with could have the error and cause the dressing room requirements not to be met.
Example: my buddy plays with an ethernet connection and has had no issue with the error. When I have restarted my app and he and I attempt to play a game we get in no problem. However, when I "error out" he also gets the code because he is the only remaining member of our team.
Hopefully that makes sense. Makes it hard to know if you have resolved it on your end because in the effected modes, other players are always a factor.

@PurpleJezus28oX - I tested it on both, but that's a good thought. Ones still did not start up after that. And in EASHL what often happens (but not 100% of the time) is out of my club (we usually play 3-4 of us), I will get the error message but the game loads for them. Occasionally a teammate will get the Dressing Room Error too.
- Anonymous7 years ago
@Bunnymen21 that is the best way to find out if it is "your error" when everyone starts the game but you it is pretty safe to say its your issue. I'm hoping to try the suggested fixes and then attempt to play with 3-4 guys and see if they get in to any games that I do not.
Even the ones game mode depends on other people, just slightly fewer. Out of curiosity are you playing with a wired (ethernet) connection or wireless? - Anonymous7 years ago
@NHLiveSupport I tried the mobile hotspot and it worked better for me. There were still error codes but we were doing 3s and mostly it was 2v2 so it could have been one of the other players that got the code.

Just noticed something,
@PurpleJezus28oX - are you saying that your friend will see the same dressing room error as yourself, despite not really having the problem himself?
Thanks

1. Yes I am on PS4 and would like to note that I played through the entire EA access on xbox without one error code.
2. I've tried that method and it is still a * shoot if it works better or worse than just closing the app.
3. No sometimes I will get 2 or more error codes even after closing app.
4. Will test this today.
I would also like to add that I play with about 5 friends from Canada, and they never experience this issue, not sure if there is a correlation there. Also when I play with them I seem to get it way more often than my american buddies, but that could be coincidental as well. I tried changing my DNS, my ps4 is set to a static IP with all necessary ports forwarded and changing those settings changed nothing.

@camo_chris87 - were the error codes specifically the dressing room error or the Fail to Retrieve Data error?
Thanks - 7 years ago
@PurpleJezus28oX, I'm on a wired connection. I have no interest in using my phone as a wifi hotspot at this time, but I will look into the open port potential fix and see if that helps. If not, I have other things to occupy my time 🙂
- Anonymous7 years agoIt was still dressing room error. We tried a couple 6s drop ins and I would get in but my buddy in my party wouldn't
- Anonymous7 years ago
@NHLiveSupport Exactly. Because it is technically a dressing room error for him at that point. He no longer had enough teammates to join the game so he will get the error even though through trial and error we have found he is never the cause of the issue.

@Bunnymen21 hah fair enough. Good to know anyway. Thanks for the reply

Thats exactly what happened to us too. my friend got the dressing room error too but most likely because of me erroring out. He has not had the error himself.

- Is everyone who is experiencing this issue on PS4? PS4PRO

Once the test runs you can pop back in your NHL app and you will reconnect and be at the HUB. (If you haven't tried, please do so and report back here) YES, I can play one game of Ones or EASHL after testing the connection.

- Does switching to Mobile data resolve the issue for everyone? YES
- Does opening up the ports work as a solution? NO (assuming I configured my CISCO EPC3828 cable modem port forwarding correctly...)

Is everyone who is experiencing this issue on PS4? Yes, I am on PS4.
Does the following method work work as a workaround for everyone? - your game has ended, hit the PS button > Settings > Network > Test Connection. Once the test runs you can pop back in your NHL app and you will reconnect and be at the HUB. (If you haven't tried, please do so and report back here. It has worked a few times, but it hasn't been a consistent fix.
Does closing the NHL 19 app and opening it back up again allow every affected user here to play at least 1 match but experiencing the dressing room error? Not a consistent fix either, but I'm frequently able to get into my first match.
Does switching to Mobile data resolve the issue for everyone? Yes, for me - I played on mobile data for about 2-3 hours last night and didn't have a problem. Afterwards I tried resetting my modem and reconnecting to play that way, but the problem persisted.
Does opening up the ports work as a solution? I've opened the ports to the best of my knowledge, and I'm still experiencing the problem.
- Anonymous7 years agoI think the error has to do with the nat types of players. Otherwise the dressing room error is completely random. When I play club sometimes a teammate or myself will lag out and we all have to back out and research, but usually we find the same exact team and then it works. Restarting the app or checking connection does nothing. This is something with EA servers and Player's nat types
- Anonymous7 years agoNot sure about nat types. Most players can be assumed to be people who played late year and there were no issues.

Anyone with errors can take game and console to friends house which plays too and hasnt got issue with dressing room and try to play here ?

This is a great suggestion. This will help rule out home network configuration. - Anonymous7 years ago
@bures solid idea. I am not local to anyone who has the game running smoothly. Hopefully someone in the thread can give this a go.

- Does switching to Mobile data resolve the issue for everyone? Limited data plan, can't try this. Unless I'm misunderstanding whats being requested.
- Does opening up the ports work as a solution? I am connected directly to modem. Pretty sure all the ports are open by default unless the ISP sets it differently.
