Re: Input lag

@DeliveryForKiki

Videos help us see if you're lagging, but they don't help us test your connection. Apologies for not being more clear on that. The particular video you linked really doesn't look delayed to me. However, I get that you need to feel it. I had input delay recently as well. It was really slight, but upgrading my router took care of it. It wouldn't really have been noticeable without playing.

Do you have game mode enabled on your TV? Are you using the HDMI cable your system came with?

  • @EA_Aljo Every piece of hardware has been replaced. I use a top of the line monitor. I've tried two different systems with two different cables. I'm going to ask a 3rd time why NHL21 doesn't seem to have any of these issues when I re-downloaded the game?

    As for, "The particular video you linked really doesn't look delayed to me," well, then I don't even know what to say. Every single person, except for you, who has seen that video has been agape at how bad it's delayed. It's literally stopping my character when I am skating forward the entire time and attempt a cut. It's so obvious that it's beyond a matter of "feel." I provided 4 videos of me with delay and without, and it's just plain as day.

    @DeliveryForKiki They know what’s going on they just can’t admit it…It will cost them a lot of money to investigate and they don’t think it’s worth it. They’d rather just deflect everything we say on here. It’s obvious at this point. Just quit the game man, your life will be a lot easier. I went completely out of my way at the beginning to try and help fix this and they don’t want our help. They’d rather blame our connections…sad.

    Here is a video of a gamewinning goal that shows the whole problem. It's a goal of my team and there is a lot wrong with whats going on.

    The CPU controlled players do a lot of dumb things or nothing (the D man on the blueline and the other D on the left side stand still in the whole sequence).

    The center runs in my winger instead of get to free space in the 4 on 3 PP. The D does not move to get to an open lane.

    That happens when the connect is that bat. The CPU can't follow the play or react to the opponets players.

    Start at Timecode 2:24 …

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1xFaZVJqF8

    Another example from the same game.

    Timecode 0:20

    The Left D (Zubov) had no clue where the puck is going, he changes direction to offense instead to react to the puck that goes deep down the boards.

    This happend 20 times in the game when I lag. It had nothing to do with an HDMI Cable or some equipment. Ping was again 6 ms in that game.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_FyMy98fi8

    @ea_ajoli The problem is routing, server, gamecode or something else. The same * happend in some offline Squad battles. There is something wrong and it's not our connnect.

    What about the question from some other players about lag compansation? No answers cause I think too thats the problem. Connections are alwasy bad aginst players from east europe … why? The have a less good connect then myself but get compensation? They are not as near to the server than I but why are the that fast?

    Same thing happened in a game I played just now, connect was terrible, my players didn't move on the PP at all. I tried to cycle behind the net but my opponent was more agile and fast and had no problem to clear the puck. It's clearly because of the bad connect.

    I see that as well when the connect is bad. AI becomes completely stupid, not picking up pucks, soft passes and soft shots, my Koskinen MSP letting in soft goals etc.

    This 100%. Is the problem for me as a Western European player playing against Eastern European teams and having a disadvantage in basically 90% of the games actively investigated by EA?

    @EA_Aljo What a hack of a company. Clear evidence of an input lag. Like how blind are you man? It's so bad. Bring back P2P connections. If you are seriously worried about people being kicked out by IP booters maybe use your billion dollar company to provide safeguards. Unbelievable how unbalanced this game is. No skill whatsoever. Basically a coin toss to see who's going to win based on connection. Give me a break. If Xbox would actually give me my refund I wouldn't bother with this page ever again.
  • @EA_Aljo Such an incredible unprofessional reply to imply that you have experienced input lag and you solved it by buying a new router. We who have tried this approach out of desperation know that it has no effect at all. Unless your router is broken for real, then you cannot play any other game without noticing bad performance.

    Your answer is going to make desperate people spend a lot of money on a fake solution. Shame on you, shame on EA!

    @99manfrottin66

    I'm saying what worked for me. I'm not saying buying new equipment will work for everyone. My point is, there are a very large amount of variables at play with connections. Our servers are only one part of it. We don't currently have the ability to single out exactly what is causing lag for some people when the majority of our playerbase is not experiencing input delay. If we see any issues on our end, they will be investigated.

    @Codo37

    Your D man at the blue line has an open lane so I'm not sure what you mean exactly. If you could be more specific about the time code for this, I'll review it again. Yes, those 2 players are standing still. It would be good to see them more active so I'll agree with you there, but this isn't related to input lag or a bad connection. As far as Zubov goes, he switches to offense after you skated him down the boards. He's now not in the best position to defend. Another player steps in to take his place as well as Burns now coming on the ice. Rather than Zubov skate back to defense, where there already are 2 defenders, he stays in an offensive position. He did move to an open lane, but you decided to carry the puck instead of pass to him. I agree that it's frustrating when an AI player gets in your way. It would be good to see them have more awareness and move out of the way.

    Lots of people complain about the connection, on r/NHLHUT there are threads complaining about the connect basically every day. I personally know lots of players who don't play anymore due to the connect issues. Players are even making fun of it with their team names (HC Packet Loss), every competitive players knows that matchmaking is a complete lottery. And I seriously doubt that EA is not aware of the issues but if you say so...
