This isn't something we have any control over. We don't have the rights to include those players on NHL rosters until they play their first NHL shift. That is completely beyond our control.

We have put a huge amount of effort into other modes besides HUT. I get that Franchise is your favorite mode, but the game is not unplayable. I understand for you it is because you require the most current rosters, but all the modes work and are playable. You also have the ability to create the missing players yourself. Yes, it's not ideal and I'm very sorry for that, but this is a situation that we aren't in control of due to the licensing rights.

    Correct me if I am wrong but I think in NHL 20 Jack Hugues and kaapo kakko was in the roster of their draft team in the first day of when nhl 20 came out?

    Its so not about having the player on the roster or not ( i can manuelly move the rookie to his nhl team by myself ) its about having the 2020 draft existing in the game and have the player right belonging to team that draft them. Never before this was like it this year so its so not a legal issue ....

    Hughes wasn't because he came from the US Development Program if I'm not mistaken but there are guys like Filip Král on the leafs who haven't played in the NHL or AHL yet and are in the game so I am sort of confused as to how that's possible

    @EA_Aljo I get the legal issue there not your fault. However, there should be an easier way to assign the players in order for us to enjoy franchise mode as it should be. Right now in the first year, the 2021 draft includes 2020 prospects as well as 2021 prospects... Completely irrelevant to play now... But thanks for your time and your answers, I understand that this is beyond your control. However, I would have appreciated some sort of warning before buying the game... I don't have time to create missing players, as it is one of the reasons I by the game every year since 2007.

    I'm really sorry for the frustration. I don't know how I can make it more clear that we don't have the ability to add those players to NHL teams without them playing their first NHL shift.

    Yeah, it would be good to have a better way to create and move players. I've heard that from others that play a ton of Franchise Mode. Hopefully, that happens in the future. As far as a warning goes, I see how that would be good. It's been like this for many years so usually, the guys play this mode are aware of this being an issue every year. It's just exceptionally different due to the pandemic and the delay of the new season.

    @EA_Aljo  I know its really not your fault but man I just check the nhl 20 first roster and I look at a video from TactixHD who made a video of the nhl 20 roster on the september 10 2019 and jack hughes was in the acual roster and his first game was the october 4 I really dont understand whats the difference this years. At least the free agent and the trade should be done. I also paid  ea access just to play franchise mode but nothing was done.. A warning at least could be great.. Again I know that its not your fault but it is veryyy frustrating...

    @EA_Aljo Okay, but why are players like Matt Murray still with the sens? The trade was on draft day.. You are saying the prospects can't be placed into the games until they have played their first pro game. Its been like that for a many years, but players have still signed elsewhere or have been traded and are still not on the correct team. That's gone unnoticed by EA. Some of the guys in this thread mentioned that, but we keep getting the response. "Legal reasons". Y'all really sleeping on us like this? I shouldn't have to update rosters myself on day 1 release. That's the frustration, sure franchise is still "playable" Its literally a pro sports game , we pay for YEARLY. You would think the rosters would be the least of our issue, again being a PRO sports game and you guys bailed out on next gen , to focus on NHL 21?

    @viny1197 The "legal issue" thing seems a bit fishy.... every the game comes out before the NHL season, and every year the game has most prospects drafted that year on their teams.

    I’ll do the moves myself, but I would appreciate all the of the new jerseys to be released. Like Ottawa, Calgary, and Vegas. I’m planing to start my be a pro soon

    You really dont seems to understand why people are upset. Its not about having the drafted player in the nhl team that draft him its about having the player right that belong to the team that draft him. Every other game that was release before have that in the first roster. Exemple last year Kappo Kakko was in his finish team but He was marked has a Ranger prospect and in franchise mode he was there for the Rangers. This Lafreniere is dosent even mark as drafted by the Rangers and when you start a franchise he is elligible for the 2021 draft. That why we want a roster update.

    @EA_Aljo I'm really sorry but I totally disagree with your comment here. I play this mode for 10+ years and this has never been an issue. Players that are drafted in June usually are always in the roster, at least those that you guys have the rights (CHL players for example). I know that USA players and Europe there are rights and they need to play to be on the roster. However, player like Lafreniere should be in their actual team. But NEVER in the history of EA franchise mode there has been this issue of having prospect from 2 different years in the same draft NEVER. So, don't tell me that this is an issue every year it is completely untrue

    I really don't know the deal with Hughes. I'd have to install NHL 20 and not update it to find out if he was on the original roster or not. Regardless, these are the rules and I can't recall a time we included a player we didn't have the rights to. I'm not saying it's impossible though. I'm trying to find out, but it won't change the fact that we can't include certain players due to how licensing rights work.

    It's not fishy. This is the case every year. I literally have this same conversation at the beginning of every season with some that aren't aware of how it works.

    We'll have to agree to disagree, but I'm not here making this up. This happens every year. You're welcome to install NHL 20 and not download the roster update to see who was included.

    I don't know what the deal with Hughes was. Regardless, I've already stated the requirements for including rookie players. We can't change that.

    @DiecastReviews what he means though and he can correct me if I'm wrong.. But pretty sure it works like this.

    Any players that have yet to play a pro game in any of the leaques currently in the game. Won't be in the game until they do , for example Cole Caufield is still yet to be in an NHL game because he went the NCAA route. So any USHL prospects won't be in the game until they play in the show or hope over to the CHL. I hear what you mean by it being fishy though ! 👀

    @EA_Aljo even if its not in the original roster of every NHL game the point is at every launch the roster was accurate on where we was during the off season so if some free agent was signed they were in the right team such as the trade! So again the point is the roster HAS to be accurate at the moment of the launch. NHL 21 cannot be a game like a game in steam early acces NHL 21 is a full release game that has to be finish at the lunch!
