I understand all of this. Looking at this persons vs. stats of each game, they lost to lower ranked players to. However, when you look at a record like that this is overall record btw not monthly. My assumption is the player beat a few higher ranked players to get there so you would be right on that part. Would it not be more simple to just use the real NHL point system (2pts for W, 0 for L, and 1 for OTL)? After all, EA is going for realistic gameplay.

If it were just based on wins, the Elite people would just search for "noobs" all day. This would also give no penalty for losses. It'd just be the person with the most wins. That was a major issue with the EASHL goalie rankings. Are you really the top goalie or were you just playing a top team that smashed teams and gave up few shots/goals. Rankings are always going to difficult whether in real life or in a video game. Look at the NCAA BCS rankings. My advise would be to just keep winning. Eventually the cream always rises.
