I don't think you can disable the salary cap once you have started a franchise.

You would have to start a new one a turn it off at the very beginning.

Its just more proof that they didn't fix any of the issues they claimed they fixed in the patch. The computer AI, doesn't seem to under how contracts work. Its just time to give up the ghost and delete NHL 22 from your hard drive, if you are a Franchise only player. Its just an utter waste of space.

Turn off Fog of War, because there is no way to scout all players
Turn off Salary Cap, because the players ask for astronomical sums

Turn off Morale, because a 4th liner gets upset they aren't getting first line minutes

Turn off Owner Mode, because you barely have enough money to fix your bathrooms each year, let alone expand your services

Turn off Head Coach Edit Lines, because s/he keeps putting your First Line Elites on the third line because they are a worse coach the Hakstol.

Turn off Auto Staff Management, because why wouldn't you, as a GM want to Hire/Fire your Coach

Turn off GM Firing, because you want to spend 25 years with the Team you love and/or created

Turn off the Game, because EA can't make a decent hockey game - Jeez stop making NHL Games and just make World of CHEL, that's what you want to do.

I'm from Philly, I love the Flyers, but I really wanted to see the Kraken make something of themselves and they hired him... I was like whoops, time to have a bad season... Sadly, that's why they are having. Its almost as bad as EA's Franchise mode.

Here are some tips for scouting that will help you get players that should help alleviate losing players due to salary cap issues...using this strategy helps me get quality players every season without breaking the bank.

For Amateur Scouts

1. Send your scouts on discovery for at least the first two months (shorter timeframes for leagues with less prospects, maybe just 1 month). While in the first year or two when your scouts are a lower grade (B- or C-) this will help narrow down which prospects are worth scouting and when you eventually hire high tier scouts (B or A) that list will be even more accurate.

2. After prospect discovery you will notice that your scouts will have players ranked higher than they used to be. Once you get to this point start scouting their potential and comparison. This will give you the most information on them. If you have time left over once that's done, start scouting their character and skills attributes. Look for skaters with B or A grades on skating. These prospects will pan out better than those with C grades on skating.

The process is a bit tedious, but you will know exactly who is worth taking and who isn't and will give you a much more enjoyable draft experience. You can generally find players with high end potential and A skating ratings early in the 2nd round. There's usually 1 or 2 that are worth trading up or down for.

For Pro Scouts

1. Make sure you have 4 scouts for AHL, and 4 scouts for NHL. One for each region.

2. Set all of them to scout groups.

3. Set the type to a complete report and have them to scout the entire division for the entire season.

4. Set the age range from 17 - 32 years.

This will allow them to scout players in enough time before the deadline you may actually want to acquire throughout the season and keeps the fog of war to a minimum assuming you have FOW turned on. Some say its not important to scout NHL and AHL, but the fact is you will find players that fit your scheme and can improve the team that you can get for pennies on the draft pick.

I don't have problems scouting, scouting actually never slow me down. I use one scout to cover all the NHL and AHL Teams, and 2 or 3 in the primary minor teams. I walked away with two elites a year and a handle full of Top6F and Top4Ds.

the issue isn't with building up my team or maintaining it. Its with the broken contracts players want, I've got a couple Top 6 guys on my team asking for McDavid Level money. One game, I got to season 23 or 25 and I had to spend 80 million of my 100 million budget on my top 6 players. EA admits that their requests are off, they just don't know how to fix it. There is no reason to possibility think in 20 years, we are going to see players making 20 million, but Top 9 Forwards are asking for 15 in year 10 of a Franchise.

Currently, sitting on my Free Agency List is 10 Exact Elite Players between the agents of 28 and 32, all asking for 15 million+, even the computer can't/won't sign them. Its not worth it.

So, I appreciate your scouting tips, but that's not the issue.

To my knowledge, you haven't been able to change cap during a season, but I'm only playing from 17, I took a long hiatus from gaming.
