Re: Sim engine…

The sim engine is terrible. I have a team where the lowest overall is 88, and the team didn't even have 40 wins and no one cracked 60 points

  • @johum2886 Yeah I don’t think poise would be that big an issue.. the sim engine is definitely broken.. you get middle six NHL players putting up massive points and then your superstar players are so hit and miss.. sometimes play to their potential sometimes only put up 50pts
The whole sim engine just isn’t good.. you get bottom dwelling teams putting up huge win streaks at he end of season and sweeping #1 teams more often than not.. just not good

@heavydutyrammer fully agree. I did a test where MacKinnon played in the AHL for a year with competent linemates and had less points than the previous year when he played in the NHL, almost makes no sense

My “4th” line is owning. You guys should see what my gameplay sliders are set to just to get a remote resemblance of realistic gameplay.

    I’m so tired.

I dont think there is any one specific factor that determines the outcomes of the sim. I’m usually pretty particular about having semi realistic standings, especially since the trade deadline can be a disaster. I usually save a bunch of times throughout the year to make sure teams perform as expected for the most part and go back to a previous file if needed. The variance between sims in performance tells me the sim engine uses pretty close to a 50/50 probability for who wins each game.

It never seems to fail that when I sell off at the deadline my team is suddenly the best team in the league and if I try to upgrade, my team gets much worse.

  • @Beauts90 That’s the thing that bothers me the most.. the Franchise Mode has a lot of flaws.. A LOT.. and there is always so much potential for it to be great.. the scouts, coaching, chemistry, X factors, etc etc.. the sad thing it’s just held together with duct tape.. instead of carefully putting the puzzle pieces together EA just smashes the pieces and uses scissors to make them fit..
but when you are in the bottom 5 teams in the standings and you sell off for a rebuild/retool.. you’re team is suddenly unbeatable.. and when you’re a buyer you’re suddenly the IRL Sabres..
I believe you when you say the sim is 50/50 when it comes to the outcome of games.. it doesn’t make sense.. good teams should be better than bad teams.. bad teams should play worse than good teams.. yes there are anomalies like when Columbus swept the Bolts a few years ago.. but it shouldn’t be like that every single year in the game..
the sim engine is not good. The Franchise Mode itself is not good and needs a revamp.. not the Be a Pro treatment because they will just take out scouts and coaches and chemistry but make the ice shinier and the menu screen more flashy and call it a revamp lol..
Give us the ability to edit players.. make scouts and coaches and chemistry adaptable.. and for f sakes please fix the engine and AI GM’s and trade values..

@heavydutyrammer the sim engine isn't 50/50, but it's damn close. There is no reason for a team with all 50 overall players come close to winning even a game, yet they have the ability to win up to 10, it makes no sense. Is hockey the most unpredictable sport? Yes, but the sim engine shouldn't be so 'unpredictable' that Arizona can make the playoffs with a 79 team rating, worst in the league by 4

So, I know @SilentAssassn25 you push poise, so I decided to put that to the test. I went into the Bios and changed the Kraken to all have 100 poise. I turned off injuries and ran six seasons, never made the playoffs once.

I found that 50/50 ratio is 100% correct. I've sold off assets to have teams with nothing higher then a 80 on any line and I've made the play offs. I also made a custom Team, with only Frnachise players on all 4 lines, that got knocked out of the play offs by the Sabers, who didn't have a single elite player on the team.

Everything is a complete crap shoot. The only thing that seems to make any difference is the Head Coaches Teaching and Influence score and that's only for younger players living to their potential.

I even did a play run, of having every line chemistry a -2, both offense and defenses, and my goalie was an 83 overall. Did I make the playoffs? I won the Stanley Cup...

  • @IrishOwl This is just ridiculous.. and I hope it gets some attention.. can it happen in real life? Yeah sure.. but the odds are astronomically low.. unlike the EA sim engine you’ve got a 50% chance of beating a top tier team with a group of 70ovr minor leaguers..

The really sad that @heavydutyrammer it won't. Let me point this out. I love all the changes they've made. I think coaches are awesome, I love the new scouting, the trade deadline mini game, and the new line chemistry, but if it doesn't work.... What is the point?

  • @IrishOwl Yes the potential for it to be great is there.. the ideas are good.. they are just developed very poorly.. they put little effort into actually making the great ideas functional, and able to work properly..
there is no point.. and since the EA has given use little to no communication I am assuming that there is absolutely no hope or point in seeing this game mode fixed..
