AI plays best when you and your teammates don't confuse them. A winger who does not forecheck when the tactic setting supposes him to do so, a center who is chasing the puck carrier, but loses sight of his 90% check, the opponents center, a defenseman who is pinching every time and the over all too much north south play of the whole team are responsible for weird ai behavior. Watch how your successfull opponents skate, hustle and get in lanes. You will notice the difference between your play and theirs. Remember: Less is (often) more. If you like to run and gun, set your strategy to war mode ;-)

Ai will adapt. Wanna play Tampa Bay 1-3-1?

Wait in the neutral zone and see how your ai winger will catch the opponent, when he is near center ice! If you forecheck to high, he will do nothing!
