The computer takes control a lot.
I noticed if you press B right before a whistle (even if you don't touch the ice), it'll pretend you were out for a shift and SIT YOU BACK DOWN.
Trying to shovel garbage (Holmstroms) down low is worthless, unless you like getting caught in worthless animations.
The stretch squirting glitch (on pass receptions) works great on the break out, but if you're already in the zone, it's additional time you aren't in control of you.
This is why I couldn't get into Madden. Ever.
Run plays wouldn't give you control until the 3rd step, and you were tackled on the 2nd.
Over the years it has become abundantly clear.
EA would prefer to play without users.
Where the hell is Tron?!?
I like how on the bench, you can't make time-sensitive decisions...because the clock disappears all the time.
Clock options: Auto, Off. NO "always on"
How about a sim till my next shift option?
Customizable game speed and penalties is the only thing that almost saves these stupid game modes.
HUT makes players move like obese female high school players.
And the refs are set to Perma Puss.
I got my avg PIM from 31minutes to 8 or so by having less fun (and perfecting the flop).
And by "perfecting" I mean sometimes my last guy back, a stick's length behind the breakaway, decides he can break up the play diving feet first.
If EA wants to focus on REALISM, they need to know what hockey is:
SO unbelievably fast that you don't have time to think and diddle while you slowly surf a gap/look for passing lanes.
The sport is all instinct.
Ice makes ALL things exponential.
They focus on realism.
Then make it 1/4 the speed it should be, so every degree of retard can see exactly what hockey isn't.
Side note:
The only correct football game is NFL Fever 2004 (Gameplay and Franchise mechanics).
Microsoft of all people figured it out...it only took them 3 years to get it right.
So they Blizzard North'd it.
The only NHL franchise mode worth a damn was NHL 2000 or 2001.
Sim a month in about 10 seconds.
Start a franchise, trade for some youngsters, play lights out for a few games per year.
**Remember Hot streaks/Cold streaks?!?!
Sim 10 years to the future and play in an entirely new world.
You nailed the key word. Fun.
Fun factor is not why we play video games.
It's the realism...
Said no one ever.
