Suggestion: Gamepad Input Overlay
We can already see stick and player movements in the replay menu which is great, but I think we'd benefit from adding other inputs and subsequent information as well. Showing the entire controller seems a little excessive but there are a bunch of important inputs we don't currently see so I'll try my best to explain
- R1/RB should show exactly when we initiate and cancel poke checks.
- Would be nice for R3 to indicate when a bodycheck brace and unleash take place (different highlight colour, perhaps?); easier to see the intent of certain plays.
- L1/LB shot block initiation and cancel.
- Dive block start and finish.
- Vision control on/off should be indicated - It greatly affects how people shoot and intercept the puck and could help with reports of supposed hinky gameplay.
- I wouldn't mind seeing an on/off toggle showing current strategies... It'd be easier to pinpoint exactly who is out of position/at fault on certain plays.
- Would love to see a pass indicator - one that shows exactly when you initiated, for how long you held it, and the power at which it was launched.
OBS and other extensions have a pretty good setup you can build upon from custom button additions/deletions, to button press colours, and even numeric values (like a pass was given at 87% power).
To reduce the moments you're trying to record or screenshot something important while the rest of your team is waiting, I would love to have the ability to save that game's recording for future use - currently, if you forget to record something at the end of a game, you're out of luck.
In a perfect world, we would be able to toggle the overlay on/off at any point and have multiple colour and placement options to choose from but I understand there could be complications.
What do you guys think, is there anything I missed?
