It isn't a significant minor league. I had to look them up and the first link that wasn't from the SPHL itself was discussing how their dream is to be a minor league to the ECHL, a minor league to the AHL, a minor league to the NHL. (https://busleaguehockey.com/2019/01/10/heres-why-the-fhl-and-sphl-will-never-be-affiliated-with-nhl-teams/). EA would have to pay licensing to include them, so while it might be nice to include them and other leagues from around the world, it is highly unlikely because it requires a cost in development and a cost in licensing dollars. The AHL is big enough to be licensed - the CHL is big enough to be licensed - but has a single player from the SPHL ever ended up in the NHL afterward?
Scott Darling started in the SPHL and made it to the NHL won a cup with Chicago
Yes there has been sphl players that made it to the NHL
- @Mustarddwarf315 Yea my hometown team is in the SPHL the Peoria Rivermen and that would be awesome to play with them.
If they had the Huntsville Havoc on this game, everyone in Alabama would’ve bought the game
- @m7fh4pdnb1ms Same, we are very successful, and I work hard in the locker room and have met people that are in the NHL, AHL, and ECHL now, so I don’t know why we aren’t in the game, the licensing can’t be that bad since the PWHL just got licensed, so it has to be a problem with the nhl and the sphl owners. Who truly knows, we don’t, that’s for sure.
