Xbox 360 controller help for NHL 09 PC

I recently just bought NHL 09 for my pc.  I have a wired xbox 360 controller that I am using.  Whenever I hit the left joystick button it pulls the goalie.  This is really inconvenient and I cannot figure out how to change this.  When I hit the right joystick button it pauses the game.  Please help me.
