NFS most wanted choosing default intel graphics over nvidia, works fine with heat

NFS MW 12 is launching & working fine, but graphics rendering is bad since it is using the default Intel graphics card rather than the Nvidia graphics card. But when I play NFS heat it is switching to Nvidia graphics.

System Conf: Windows 10, i7-7700HQ @ 2.80GHz, 16GB RAM , NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti  - 4GB

Nvidia driver version: Tried both 451.67 & 452.06 (GeForce Game Ready Driver)

Solutions tried but didn't work

  • Reinstalled origin, Checked Participate in origin technical previews
  • Reinstalled Nvidia graphics driver
  • Disable intel display driver in device management
  • Tried to run the program with administrator privileges
  • Launched the game from the game folder (not with the shortcut.)
  • Tried the compatibility troubleshooter
  • Allowed the Game Client and Origin to communicate through your firewall and are present to your security program’s “safe” or “allowed” list.
  • Tried Repair and/or re-install the game
  • Scanned PC for Malware
  • Tried the windowed/Fullscreen mode
  • In Nvidia control panel
    • Manage 3D settings - In Global settings preferred graphics processor selected as "High-performance NVIDIA processor"
    • Manage 3D settings - In Program settings, for nfs13.exe preferred graphics processor selected as "High-performance NVIDIA processor"
  • In windows graphics settings - Added nfs13.exe & set graphics preference to Nvidia

Since NFS heat is automatically switching to Nvidia graphics, Probably there is no problem with the graphics card, Windows version, or any other component in the PC.

I am stuck with this problem & I want that classic game back. Please! help me

  • I contacted the support over chat, I was using the windows developer version(Build 20206) which caused the issue. I reinstalled the stable version of windows & it is working fine.

Hey @jeevancandy can you try the following to ensure that the game is running off your dedicated GPU:

    1. Open the Nvidia Control Panel
    2. Click Manage 3D settings
    3. Click the Program Settings tab
    4. Click the Add button
    5. Select the game from the list or click browse and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Need for Speed(TM) Most Wanted\NFS13.exe
    6. Select NFS13.exe and then Open
    7. Customise individual settings if you like
    8. Exit nvidia control panel and try playing.
