Anytime you register a game on Origin it then becomes a digital copy, thus you shouldn't need the physical disk to run it. I know I have disks for Mass Effect 1,2, and 3 and all are now on Origin and the disks gather dust on the shelf while I play games. Up side is you don't need a drive and you don't need the disks....down side is if something happens to Origin, you lose access to the games until you get it fixed. I also find it helpful to have either a big HD for the games, or to have a large USB stick to make a copy of games from the Origin drive. That way you can copy the games to a backup and if you want to install the games again and don't want to download 25 gigs of data, you simply use the backup to copy it back to your use drive and tell origin to install and poof game is back no large download needed.
I personally have moved over to pure digital for game purchase, I don't even bother with physical disks for new games. I use whichever online system is needed and just buy the game and install online.(Which all the companies love cutting out other retailers and keeping that profit)

In addition to what @mcsupersport said, for most Sims 4 packs you will not get a CD even if you buy the game in a physical form. You'll just get the box with a paper and a code in it. For the smaller packs like Stuff packs I do not even think you can buy the box&code version, only if you get them in a bundle 🙂

Yep, in some regions discs are becoming more and more rare, and I know a lot of folks (including me) who haven't had an installed CD drive in years.
If you like boxes, just grab the code out of the box and pop it onto your display shelf, and download the game. 🙂- ivrognard8 years agoHero (Retired)
@EA_David don't worry. MS rendered a lot of our original CD's useless when they've blocked the old SecuROM, Safedisc, StarForce and Tages protections. And they still refuse to offer us a way to play our paid games. To add insult to injury, they've suggested to buy them on GOG, if they are available there, or use cracks, if not. Because we bought them to use a pirated copy, not the originals...MS....Saving PC gaming over and over again...If there is a company that i loathe, that might be the one. They seem to be completely out of touch with what their users want. Forced upgrades, cut features, promoting piracy (seriously?!), adding unwanted stuff to an already bloated software and gifving us no choice to decide if we want/need that stuff on our PC's or not.
So, yeah. We use digital releases, as we have no other choice. Pay again for already owned games. IF they are available in a digital format.
