Re: "Cannot Verify Credit Or Debit Card"

Hey @BigBerno the charge you are seeing is most likely a pre-authorisation. A pre-authorisation is a temporary hold on money in your account which is generally the balance of an item or service you have ordered. This is not a charge and the money does not leave your account, it is just the bank and service provider ensuring that the money is there to cover the order. If you look back over your invoices from your credit card company you will no doubt see that while a certain amount of money was earmarked it was never actually taken from the account.

For the error you are seeing, the best thing to do is to ensure that the details you are entering in Origin are identical to those that your bank and/or card issuer has on file.

It's no harm speaking with one of our support advisers who will be able to advise you further.

You can contact EA Help via the EA Help website. Detailed instructions on how to use the EA Help service can be found here.

  • Thanks @EA_Darko I have made sure it isn't a problem with my bank as they have also asked me if the $49.95 purchase was genuine, and they said I was all good to go.

But the verification money ($2.60) Has indeed has been charged from my account, I'm quite aware that it will hopefully get refunded.

I've made sure that the information is identical on origin and my bank.

And I have also talked in a live chat with someone and they we're not much help either.

I do not own a credit card and PayPal has been atrocious for me in the past.

Is there anything else you would recommend? I hear this card verification issue has been a bug since 2012. Thank you

Hey @BigBerno I tested there on two different accounts with 2 different cards and both transactions went through without issue.

The error you are seeing points to an issue with the bank or card issuer blocking the transaction due to concerns. A single piece of wrong info on the account which differs from what your bank has on file can cause this issue.

As we cannot assist with account or billing issues on AHQ, the best thing to do is speak with our live support for any further queries relating to this.

  • EA Does not accept American Express. That has been a huge problem since 2012. When do you think they will start accepting American Express payments?
