Re: How do I reinstall Origin?

Hi becca25co,

Normally you would just log out and completely exit Origin and then click on Start > Control Panel  > Programs and Features > and then double click on Origin.

Should you still have issues afterwards, this is how you can manually uninstall: https://help.ea.com/article/manually-uninstalling-origin

After you are done uninstalling, you can re-install the game by visiting this page: http://www.origin.com/download

Cheers,

Nils

    I did exactly all of that, and it always comes up with the error message: Failed- Download Error. When i clicked for more info, it said that it meant simply to try again later. ive been trying and that is always what i get. am i doing something else wrong??

    lsjaboe, can you elaborate at what stage exactly you are encountering this error? Is it when clicking on download on the webpage or when first starting the Origin client after installing it?
  • 1 yr later still the same issue.

    @Crazy4Kitty1 Hi there,

    It should not, but if you tell us which game you are worried about, we can assist you in making sure that you have a backup of your save.

    You mean reinstalling Origin?

    If so, no it will not.

    Still, it is always best to make a backup of your "C:\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4" folder to an external drive. If you have don't have a backup and you get serious problems on that machine, the progress will be lost.

    So three years ago i was playing Sims 4 just fine but then something happened which wouldn't let me play at all?I was quite young so i just left it until now.When i would go to Origin it'd say i'm offline and wouldn't let me play my game,it said i needed to update it.So i tried updating and when it said it was complete it wouldn't let me go on Origin at all?So i decided to uninstall it and delete it and it's files,then after try reinstalling it.But now when i'd reinstall Origin it'd say something's missing and to try again,so i did but it'd say the same thing.I don't know what to do or how to fix it but i just want to play the game so badly but it won't allow me to;It'd say Origin would be uninstalled and deleted even after i'd reinstall from the website.Do u know how i could fix this problem? Thank you.

  • I downloaded OriginThinSetup to play apex legends and when i click open it tells me system error "The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP140.dll was not found. reinstalling the program may fix this problem." i go to reinstall the same thing and it just says the same thing pls help ☹️

    @SamvraiJakey

    • Go here  > Download both files, "vc_redist.x64.exe and "vc_redist.x86.exe"
    • Install both VC runtime.
    • Reboot your computer.
    • Test the Origin installation again.
