No, I don't use CC or Mods.
I too have been having this problem.
The first time I noticed it was after the October 6 game update (since I like to repair after every update) and it took hours (6 or more, I ended up going to bed and it was done in the morning).
I've been avoiding doing any repairs since then, but decided to try again last week and it did the same thing where it used up in the high 90s of my CPU, and I ended up removing most of the packs from the queue (as opposed to cancelling the repair). I've since uninstalled and reinstalled Origin, I've cleared my Origin cache, I have no mods or cc (I temporarily added the Freelancer Mod fix but that was after the Oct 6 game update and it had been removed before I tried the most recent set of repairs). I just tried it again after installing some critical updates in Windows and had the same thing happen (and once again cleared most of the packs from the queue).
The base game plus first few packs seem to go fine, but it starts to slow down around/after pack 5 or so. That coincides when the CPU usage starts to get to 100%. Also, even after I clear the queue and it finishes the repair the CPU usage remains high and the only way to get it to go down is to exit Origin. It goes back to a reasonable level after you exit and start it again (though I had to disable most of the application options to get it to minimal usage while idle).

- @MapleSimmer Yes! This is precisely what happened to me! I couldn't explain it better! I hope there is something that can be done to fix this.
EA_Illium@Alexmeteor To check are you running any other programs while running the repair? Do you have any Anti-virus or firewall running either?- @EA_Illium Yes, only Firewall and Antivirus, but until now they didn't interfere at all with the repairing process. As I said, in the past repairing the game was really quick and didn't give me a single problem.
- Yes, me too! Took all day downloading on my laptop, and did not fix the problems i was having.
Reinstalled and it downloaded in about 2 hours It is a new laptop, i have it one month.
No cc
Played the one day, problems with errors the next. Repair failed so bad, i had to wipe the laptop. A NEW one!
I am having same issue after running a repair today on Sims 4. I do not use any Mods or CC. I have 8-core processors on my PC and Origin is spiking the CPU to over 95%. My PC did not crash luckily, but when new Sims Packs were being pulled up going into verify process at times I would get the same error message pop-up (Attached screenshots). I also attached my Origins version number from the most recent update. Hope this helps in getting issue narrowed down and fixed.
4 weeks and counting is a ridiculous amount of time to let this go on, can you please provide a time frame of when this will be resolved and patch sent out. There are a lot of reports on Sims 4 bugs where game is crashing and most likely it is all tied back to this.
I've been seeing this issue for a while now but on a different scenario :
If you tell origin to download anything, specially if other apps are open with it, it'll go berzerk and either use your entire CPU power out of nothing, or be locked with 100% disk usage even after the downloads are complete, I observed this while downloading things like mass effect and spore while trying to play something else or watching videos on my browser, the way I used to stop this behaviour was to download stuff and then restart origin after it finishes.- @MapleSimmer This is the exact same problem I'm having. It's so bad that I've given up dealing with Sims 4 and Origin till it's fixed.
@manzana0807 I've just been clearing most of the packs from my queue and then I can play as usual.

Jennifer- @MapleSimmer I looked at your video and the idea is not bad but it’s a shame that we would even have to go through something like this because how would we know which one needs a repair and which one not. So if you delete some you do not know if those would need a repair. And yes this issue happens since the October patch and so far the issue still remains. I wish they would just fix the software so we wouldn’t have to go through all this. As you and many others I too don’t have the time to repair my games and wait five hours till it’s done.
It even does this by playing a game after 10 or 20 mins. It Slows the game down. I have noticed this in Sims 3 and Sims 4. It makes the game unplayable unless you want to play it less that 20 min a time, quit origin, then reopen game.
- @MapleSimmer I reduced the cpu cores Origin is allow to use down to two as someone else mentioned here and it allowed me to finally repair my game all the way without Origin locking up my pc for the first time since October. I also downloaded the EA Desktop app and I'm going to use it for playing the game instead of Origin.
Been having this same exact issue. The repair would only take minutes but since the fall update been having this issue and really dread having to do a repair.
