Whatever you have on that external drive is not the game. The base game alone is around 20GB in size. Run the Origin reset tool https://answers.ea.com/t5/Origin-Mac-Client-Technical/Clearing-Origin-cache-on-Mac-the-correct-way/m-p/12352783#M137370 then move the game to the hard drive from your internal drive and change the game library location in Origin. Or change the library location then download the game.
