I actually used that website you linked quite a lot to read up on the alignments. Gives an interesting and in-depth explanation.

And @DarkBanishing, LOL at your comment for not wanting to be Chaotic due to your mathematical background. Are you as tidy as Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory? ;p

For myself, if I had to choose an alignment then I would definitely say that I'm Chaotic Good. This is usually also what I play in-game. I like the concept of good, but I have a huge dislike for rules and regulations.

However, I'm also deeply intrigued by the True Neutral alignment. It seems like a very carefree way of living. Imagine letting go of all that stress!

Well, in the 4th edition of the forgotten realms the rules where somewhat simplified. (That change was revoked with the 5th edition.)

There was only lawful good and good in that edition, and I would say that I try to be the "Good" guy here. [link]

In games, I've noticed a switch in recent years. While in the past I was a boring case of Lawful Good, recently I've started shifting way more towards Chaotic Good/Neutral (depending on game and companions). In life... I have both Lawful and Chaotic Neutral moments.

No, @Straatford87, not as tidy as Sheldon. 😛

I am always busy with strategy and calculations, so being chaotic would cause too much stress for me. Being lawful is more appealing to me, but I too have a chaotic streak: I just can't stand injustice, even if it's "THE LAW". So, I always go with the only right path (for me that is), the middle path. 😉

So yes, I choose to be chaotic and lawful, I choose to be good, but I must admit I can sometimes be  a very naughty boy too. So true neutral and neutral good are my natural preferences for alignment. I want people to know they can rely on me without being a zealot. 🙂

Hahaha, I asked my friends after their alignments too and 75% says chaotic good. But they all obey their bosses and all pay their taxes, so are you all as chaotic as you believe you are in real life? 😉

I expected mostly good and neutral alignments though. I just can't imagine someone would come in here and claim that they are chaotic evil... but we shall see! I love getting surprised.. 🥳

@DarkBanishing there are always sparks between me and my bosses. It usually ends up with them agreeing that i was right. Lots of sparks, dangerous for the bystanders that come between our "discussion". As for taxes...let's say that i am not the one paying them. The accounting department takes care of those, too. A wee bit different the system around here.

If you ever want to play a really funny game as an evil protagonist, try out Evil Genius. It's old but still great. This game gives being evil a whole new dimension. 😉

@DarkBanishing have it on GOG. Got it before removal. Another great game is Republic: The Revolution. And let's not forget Tropico. Great games for those chaotic neutral peeps😉

@Straatford87 i am probably one of the worst persons to be around. I always say whatever is on my mind. Plainly. Many people told me that were put off by my lack of diplomacy. And instead of  using white lies, i prefer silence or to call it how i see it. Which doesn't make me a popular person. But people that get past that, people that became my friends, know that they've got an actual friend. 

I am also not a man that gives second chances. If i've got fragged by someone, i don't forgive, nor forget. I am no god to do such thing. Just a mere, flawed human being. And to be honest, i would not change who i am now. I was asked if i would change something from my past and when i looked back i reached the conclusion that i wouldn't. All the things that i got through led to the person i am today. The bad and the good. So i stick with my own life code, a code that conflicts with what is socially acceptable or what society wants. My own rules, my own game. 

As for fun, it depends. I can be fun if i am in what i consider to be a good company. But i can be a complete arse in the wrong company, as i won't forgive any percieved mis-step. Sarcasm, irony (fine or blunt, depending on the person), will come out in full force.  Luckily, that happens rarely.

Any thoughts of true neutral characters in movies?

It always seemed plausible to me to assume Han Solo from Star Wars is true neutral.

Oh, I use sarcasm and irony all the time. I think that's just a typical neutral characteristic. 👍

I'm torn about Han Solo. I imagine that because he chooses a clear side between good and evil, he probably isn't neutral. But that's a total guess from my end. I don't want to say he's Chaotic Good because that makes me sound biased, but it sounds plausible.

From TV instead of a movie, how about Tyrion Lannister? He doesn't seem driven by either good or evil.

I don't know if Han Solo is a good character, he rescued the princess for money and he was a smuggler. I think he could be a border case, neutral, but one point away from being good or the other way around, a good character being one point away from being neutral. Haha, this is so much fun to debate. 😃

Do you think he was put in those circumstances due to his environment? For example, if you become a smuggler because you refuse to bow to the will of the evil emperor, what does that make you?

I agree with you Tom, Han Solo is imho not a true Neutral character, I also think he is a Chaotic good character and in that, even closer to Neutral good then to true neutral. He is saving Luke from Darth Vader, he fights for the Rebellion and then, in the end, he tries to save his son.

I would say that are not the actions of a true neutral character.

Neutral or Chaotic Good sounds like a fit to me.

I still see Chaotic as possible, as there is a wide range of different management styles. But I'm certainly willing to call him Neutral good as well :-)

You mean because the Rebel Army is a well structured organization?  I would say that the fact that he served in such a organization does not preclude that he himself is chaotic good.
