If you ever want to play a really funny game as an evil protagonist, try out Evil Genius. It's old but still great. This game gives being evil a whole new dimension. 😉
@DarkBanishing have it on GOG. Got it before removal. Another great game is Republic: The Revolution. And let's not forget Tropico. Great games for those chaotic neutral peeps😉

Not only the chaotic ones... 😃😉
Dungeon Keeper is also fantastic if you want to escape from being good or neutral alike. 👿
Getting a bonus for killing your minions? Lol, I bet there were imps in disguise working on the dev team when the game was made. 🙂

I've been wanting to add this for a while now - if you've ever seen It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Charlie Kelly is the prototype of what I think a chaotic neutral person would be like:
If you aren't familiar with his character, any other in-game or film characters that you think would be chaotic neutral?

Me, when I'm stuck in a traffic jam 🐲😉
Chaotic neutral characters from movies:
Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribean
Riddick from Pitch Black
Deadpool

So I can then confirm that @ivrognard must be a very fun person to be around.. :eahigh_file:

@Straatford87 i am probably one of the worst persons to be around. I always say whatever is on my mind. Plainly. Many people told me that were put off by my lack of diplomacy. And instead of using white lies, i prefer silence or to call it how i see it. Which doesn't make me a popular person. But people that get past that, people that became my friends, know that they've got an actual friend.
I am also not a man that gives second chances. If i've got fragged by someone, i don't forgive, nor forget. I am no god to do such thing. Just a mere, flawed human being. And to be honest, i would not change who i am now. I was asked if i would change something from my past and when i looked back i reached the conclusion that i wouldn't. All the things that i got through led to the person i am today. The bad and the good. So i stick with my own life code, a code that conflicts with what is socially acceptable or what society wants. My own rules, my own game.
As for fun, it depends. I can be fun if i am in what i consider to be a good company. But i can be a complete arse in the wrong company, as i won't forgive any percieved mis-step. Sarcasm, irony (fine or blunt, depending on the person), will come out in full force. Luckily, that happens rarely.

Any thoughts of true neutral characters in movies?
It always seemed plausible to me to assume Han Solo from Star Wars is true neutral.
Oh, I use sarcasm and irony all the time. I think that's just a typical neutral characteristic. 👍
I think I'm being very true neutral now for a couple of weeks 😉 - Straatford879 years ago

We still love having you around on the forum.. 🙂
What would life be without sarcasm and irony? :D
I'm torn about Han Solo. I imagine that because he chooses a clear side between good and evil, he probably isn't neutral. But that's a total guess from my end. I don't want to say he's Chaotic Good because that makes me sound biased, but it sounds plausible.
From TV instead of a movie, how about Tyrion Lannister? He doesn't seem driven by either good or evil.
- DarkBanishing9 years agoHero+
Indeed, he could be a real neutral. 🙂
I don't know if Han Solo is a good character, he rescued the princess for money and he was a smuggler. I think he could be a border case, neutral, but one point away from being good or the other way around, a good character being one point away from being neutral. Haha, this is so much fun to debate. 😃

Do you think he was put in those circumstances due to his environment? For example, if you become a smuggler because you refuse to bow to the will of the evil emperor, what does that make you?
You did indeed pick an interesting character for discussion.. :D

I agree with you Tom, Han Solo is imho not a true Neutral character, I also think he is a Chaotic good character and in that, even closer to Neutral good then to true neutral. He is saving Luke from Darth Vader, he fights for the Rebellion and then, in the end, he tries to save his son.
I would say that are not the actions of a true neutral character.

He started as true neutral and then became neutral good? Why neutral good and not chaotic good: he was an acting general in the rebel army, so chaotic doesn't sound plausible to me.

Neutral or Chaotic Good sounds like a fit to me.
I still see Chaotic as possible, as there is a wide range of different management styles. But I'm certainly willing to call him Neutral good as well :-)

You mean because the Rebel Army is a well structured organization? I would say that the fact that he served in such a organization does not preclude that he himself is chaotic good.

But you must admit his character made some alignment shifts over the years. In Star Wars IV A New Hope he is certainly not a good character, rather neutral. That ends when he comes back to save Luke. From then on he evolves to a good alignment. In the later movies he's also more responsible. He takes up his responsibility to go to the forest moon of Endor, although he's a pilot. So I think he's not chaotic good just because of this responsibilities he takes on his shoulders. He's quiet a good leader too, does that suits a real chaotic good character? My feeling tells me he's a neutral good character in SW V and VI.

Well, he certainly got trough a development process. I think he was a pretty cynic human being to begin, but that in itself don't specifies his alignment imho.
He was what he was because of the political and social circumstances of the Empire. Trying to keep as much freedom for himself as possible but without any means to change the regime he apparently also despised.
The way he is portrayed in A New Hope, (but not only there) is the reason why I think that "Chaotic" is not only the right but the only description for him.
By definition: "Chaos implies freedom, adaptability, and flexibility. On the downside, chaos can include recklessness, resentment toward legitimate authority, arbitrary actions, and irresponsibility. Those who promote chaotic behavior say that only unfettered personal freedom allows people to express themselves fully and lets society benefit from the potential that its individuals have within them."
The "good" part is ambivalent (or not defined) until he acts the way he acts at the end of A New Hope.

The lack of doing heroic deeds in D&D defines a neutral character. So he definitely didn't start as a good character if we follow D&D logic. 😉
The second thing is that the empire isn't the legitimate authority. The senate is, but the emperor disbanded it. So as I see it, even a lawful good character can resent authority (f.e. princess Lea) if it isn't a legitimate one. Being chaotic for me is doing what you want without thinking of the consequences of doing so. Han's actions aren't chaotic, they're just heroic actions that defines him as good later on in the movies.
Lets focus on Luke for now, what do you think of his alignment. 🙂
