Just to confirm, you were able to complete step #3 regarding adding Origin and your games as exceptions to your anti-virus and firewall?

This step is important as Anti-virus programs, like McAfee or AVG, can sometimes block game access and Firewalls and any other security measures you have on your computer, like Windows Defender and Peerblock, try their best to keep only the most important information coming through to your computer. It can cause interference when running the Origin client or your games. 

Could you let me know how you get on after trying that step once more?
