Would like to close / delete my account

@EA Support,

After all these years I've decided to cancel my EA account. However there isn't a direct way to do so without contacting support.

Side note: Your customers should have the ability to cancel / delete their accounts and personal info without having to jump through hoops to do so. Lets be real here, it takes all of five minutes to create an account and what I fear maybe weeks to get rid of one.

Getting back on topic... Now while support tickets do exist, I've found that when I attempt to create one that nothing happens. No new window and anything pops up yet all other options (if they can be called that) lead back to the same process.

*** Please delete my account and ALL personal information. Once this has been confirmed, I'll remove all Origin software from my PC. ***

Thank you in advance!

    Yes... Please delete the account.

I will not be looking back over my shoulder once its gone.

Now as for the "why", there are several reasons for my account deletion request...

    * EA appears to cater more towards younger gamers that are primarily looking for a quick fix with little depth of play. Thus, its very rare that EA offers something I'd find interesting.

    * Now while EA does release (primarily) cross-platform games, in my experience, such titles are only as good as the weakest platform they're designed for. So i ask you, whats the point of paying full price for a game thats not taking full advantage of my PC's capabilities?

    * Online security in game is often non-existent. I've spent several years as Admin policing servers and have come to the conclusion that it's not really worth my time investment to do so. Point blank, more than a 1/4 of players are using some form of script for an "advantage" in BF3. Worse yet, many of them are using "New" accounts that can easily be purchased online. Thus banning them does nothing as they come right back minutes later under an assumed account. From an Admins perspective, EA needs to create strong tools to fight cheating and make them publicly available. Just so you know, Punkbuster is a joke and created far more problems than what it was intended to solve.

    * Regional play is something thats not being enforced and has had the direct effect of diminishing the quality of play for everyone involved. Specifically, the lag between players skyrockets the moment someone who's not from the same region joins. Sure, for some games region-less play may work out just fine but for titles requiring a seamless connection, forget about it.

    * Rented servers sound like a great way to monetize a release but to be frank, its an even better way to absolve EA of any of direct responsibility of what transpires online. Now while i understand that EA is in this for the money, there comes a point where a publisher has to take responsibility for the community it created. IMO Its critical that publishers actively / publicly police their content if the end goal is to maximize the players experience online and thus maximize profits. Unfortunately, I've never seen EA do anything other than provide lip-service or add to the hype surrounding a release without providing any true substance.

    * Over the last few years it's become very clear to me that gamers are no longer the consumer but instead the we're the end product. Our data is collected, stored, used, sold and frequently abused. Often without our direct knowledge or consent. Worse yet, its very likely that the data collected my not accurately reflect the actions of the individual creating the account. However, in the end it doesn't matter when the ToS is designed to rob individuals of their rights. Knowing this, I can not in good conscience allow my children to use the services or titles published by Electronic Arts.

    Thank you in advance!

Thank you for coming to us with feedback on your difficulty in deleting the account, @Resin_Smoker

Once an account is fully deleted it will never able to be recovered again. We want to make sure a player's account is fully protected and account deletions are not processed without authorization. While I personally understand where you are coming from with your point of view in making the deletion process more convenient, if that was the case it could open up the door for bad experiences where a sibling, friend, or phisher will delete the account without the owner's authorization rendering it unrecoverable. We want to make sure we are talking to the true account before going through the account deletion or deactivation process.

This isn't to say the process couldn't be improved in the future and our apologies if this has caused any frustration. To proceed with this though, at this time we require you to contact our Live-Support at our website here.

Thank you for playing EA games.
